Job description

Pay Range: $83,156.00 - $117,458.00 per year

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

The clinical Informatics specialist under the direction of the Informatics Manager integrates clinical science with multiple information management and analytical sciences to identify, define, manage, and communicate data, information, knowledge, and wisdom in clinical practice.

The clinical informatics specialist supports nurses, consumers, patients, the interprofessional healthcare team, and other stakeholders in the use of technology to support clinical care.

Activities include but are not limited to collaborating with customers and other IT team members to partner to define problems.

Participates in the design, development, implementation, education, and evaluation of technology in clinical areas.

In addition, they are responsible for advocacy, identification of issues, documentation, and escalation of issues.

The clinical informatics specialist will work with individuals of other professions to maintain a climate of mutual respect and shared values.

They will communicate with patients, families, communities, and professionals in health and other fields in a responsive and responsible manner that supports a team's approach to the promotion and maintenance of health.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • RN or clinical Licensure in NJ
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or other clinical licensure program, Bachelor of Science in Nursing or clinical field preferred

Preferred:

  • 3+ years of clinical experience with progressive leadership responsibilities preferred
  • Epic Clinical Informatics Accreditation and Nursing ANCC/ HIMSS certifications preferred

Scheduling Requirement:

  • This position requires regular travel throughout the Northern region. Expected travel is approximately five days per week rotating between sites such as Newark, Plainfield, and Piscataway. Home base will be at one of the UBHC sites. 

Essential Functions:

The Informatics Specialist 1 is responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Provides operational support, with oversight, to local team to provide customer support, education, implement clinical changes, coordinate and collaborate with local SME to plan, deliver, and evaluate changes related to the use of technology and data
  • Rigorous documentation, with oversight, of problems including audits, design sessions, planning, collaboration, and implementation activities (including but not limited to rounds and in-sevices) of their teams
  • With oversight, ensure that all problems have discrete metrics of outcomes to ensure a scientific and rigorous approach to outcomes
  • Maintains a culture within the team and with external collaboration upholding the RWJBH standards of ethics, culturally congruent practice, and communication/ collaboration
  • Maintains the required professional development, competencies, and continuing education
  • Collaborates with local SME s in Quality and Regulatory under the guidance of leadership to ensure optimal quality of practice by ensuring awareness and competency to new regulations
  • Other duties as assigned by leadership
  • Applicant is expected to obtain and maintain Epic certification as current in accordance with dept requirements
