The Impact You'll Make in this Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Senior Technical Supervisor to join the Consumer Business Group (CBG) Auto Care business within the Meguiar's organization. This leadership role will drive the development of next-generation automotive appearance solutions while supporting the continued global expansion of the Meguiar's portfolio.

As a Senior Technical Supervisor, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Lead and oversee the Meguiar's R&D laboratory organization, ensuring excellence in laboratory operations, project execution, budget management, safety performance, and compliance with corporate, regulatory, and legal requirements.
  • Direct the New Product Introduction (NPI) portfolio, driving successful development, validation, commercialization, and technical support activities that deliver innovative products aligned with business growth objectives.
  • Assess program and project risks and opportunities, proactively developing mitigation strategies and contingency plans to ensure successful execution and delivery.
  • Provide technical leadership and support to Market Development Partners (MDPs), enabling sustainable growth and successful expansion of Meguiar's products across global markets.
  • Build and sustain a high-performing technical organization, fostering employee engagement, talent development, technical excellence, and effective collaboration among product developers, product engineers, and application engineers.
  • Strengthen partnerships across the enterprise, developing productive relationships with business leaders, manufacturing teams, international organizations, customers, suppliers, and external stakeholders to accelerate innovation and business results.
  • Develop and expand technical capabilities in strategic global markets, ensuring local expertise and technical support infrastructure are aligned with portfolio growth objectives.
  • Lead management of the Change Management Process (CMP) portfolio, ensuring timely resolution of programs around product quality, cost optimization, supply continuity, and regulatory compliance issues.
  • Drive strategic and tactical execution through collaborative decision-making, ensuring alignment of technical programs with division priorities, business objectives, and long-range growth strategies.
  • Identify and advance new technology and product innovation opportunities, leveraging internal capabilities and external insights to create differentiated solutions that strengthen Meguiar's competitive advantage.
  • Champion intellectual property development and stewardship, ensuring innovative technologies are effectively protected and leveraged to support future business growth.
  • Serve as a key member of the R&D leadership team, contributing to organizational strategy, resource planning, operational excellence, and the continued development of a culture of innovation, accountability, and inclusion.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in chemistry, engineering or related technical field (completed and verified prior to start)
  • Five (5) years of experience leading technology or NPI projects in a laboratory setting in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Master's Degree or Ph.D. in chemistry, engineering or related technical field
  • Previous supervisory or management experience with more than 5 direct reports
  • Minimum 7+ year's experience managing technology or NPI development
  • Excellent leadership skills and experience leading organizations

Work location:

  • Irvine, CA: This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Irvine, CA location.
  • Travel: May include up to 20% domestic/international
  • Relocation: Is not authorized
