Description

About Us

At B&B Catering & Events, we don't just serve food-we craft moments. Since 1989, our team has delivered warm, creative hospitality and unforgettable experiences across the Bay Area. From intimate gatherings to large-scale celebrations, our mission is simple: deliver joy through beautiful, thoughtful, and flavorful events.

The Heart of the Role: What You'll Be Doing

As an Event Chef II, you're the culinary lead at the front lines of our events. You'll prep, cook, and lead on-site execution for a wide range of gatherings-sometimes solo, sometimes with a team. Whether it's a backyard wedding, a corporate lunch, or a multi-day conference, you'll bring B&B's standards to life through flavor, organization, and leadership.

How You'll Help Bring Events to Life

In this role, here is what you will do:

  • Prepare and cook food on-site according to detailed event worksheets and B&B's culinary standards
  • Lead and support a team of 2-8 kitchen staff at events (prep cooks, other event chefs, or server-assistants)
  • Use of company vehicle to transport, set up, and break down kitchen and buffet areas at a variety of venues
  • Follow kitchen safety protocols and ensure food handling compliance
  • Communicate with the Event Manager and team for a smooth guest experience
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout service and during breakdown
  • Keep detailed notes on any equipment needs or quality concerns
  • Occasionally assist with training new Event Chefs
  • Update availability in Nowsta and respond to shift requests within 24 hours

Requirements

The Ingredients for Success in This Role (Required & Preferred Qualifications)

To be successful in this role, the following requirements are:

  • 5+ years of culinary experience, including food prep and cooking in varied venues
  • 3+ years of kitchen leadership experience (leading 2-8 kitchen staff)
  • Must be 18 or older with reliable transportation
  • Valid driver's license and insurable driving record (for use of company van)
  • ServSafe Certified or willingness to obtain
  • Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Comfortable working with commercial kitchen equipment
  • Calm under pressure and excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Work Conditions & Physical Aspects of the Role

This role may require:

  • Standing or walking for extended periods
  • Repetitive motion using hands and arms
  • Lifting/moving up to 40 pounds
  • Working in high-activity or variable temperature environments
  • Occasional communication in loud or busy settings

Reasonable accommodations will be made in accordance with applicable laws.
