Behavioral Health Technician

NorthStar Behavioral Health is seeking an organized and professional Behavioral Health Technician to join our team. The Behavioral Health Technician plays a key role in providing direct support to clients by promoting safety, encouraging recovery, implementing treatment plans, and assisting individuals in developing the skills needed to achieve greater independence and overall well-being.

Shift: 7:30 AM to 8:00 PM
Work Schedule: 3 days a week, rotating weekends and holidays

As a Behavioral Health Technician, You Will:

  • Assist clients with daily living activities and personal hygiene.
  • Monitor and document client behaviors with precision and accuracy.
  • Plan and lead therapeutic recreation activities for groups.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff on special projects.
  • Conduct individual and group activities.
  • Maintain professional and respectful communication with clients and the treatment team.
  • Obtain and document vital signs and patient information.
  • Maintain a compassionate and empathetic attitude towards patients and their families.
  • Observe, document, and report patient behavior to the appropriate clinician.
  • Monitor patient activities and behaviors, promptly reporting any changes to the assigned nurse.
  • Provide crisis intervention and employ supportive communication techniques.

What You Will Bring:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associateโ€™s degree in healthcare, business, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong communication and presentation abilities, knowledge of DSM IV diagnoses, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • MA (Medical Assistant) Certification Required.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to perform tasks such as sitting, walking, balancing, and lifting up to 15 pounds.
