Construction Lead Carpenter / Working Superintendent – Western U.S. Region

Location: Western United States (Extensive Travel Required – Including Alaska & Hawaii)
Relocation to Idaho is NOT required

Job Summary

Northern Management Services Inc. is seeking a skilled and motivated Lead Carpenter / Working Superintendent to oversee and actively participate in construction projects across the Western United States. This role combines leadership responsibilities with hands-on construction work at commercial, natural, and historic project sites.

Projects are primarily located at National Parks, U.S. Fish & Wildlife sites, and United States Postal Service facilities, offering unique and rewarding work environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead daily field construction activities
  • Coordinate with customers, vendors, and suppliers
  • Ensure project timelines and budgets are met
  • Maintain quality control standards across all phases of construction
  • Perform field documentation including daily logs and progress photos
  • Communicate effectively with customers and site personnel
  • Enforce company policies, procedures, and safety standards
  • Perform hands-on carpentry and construction tasks including:
    • Wood and metal framing
    • Concrete forming and finishing
    • Finish carpentry
    • Additional site work as needed to ensure project success

Required Qualifications

  • Journey-level carpentry skills in:
    • Wood and steel framing
    • Concrete forming and finishing
    • Finish carpentry
  • Working Construction knowledge of:
    • Electrical
    • Plumbing
    • Mechanical systems
    • Roofing
    • Interior finishes
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving abilities
  • Willingness to travel extensively throughout the Western U.S.
  • Ability to use:
    • Laptop computer and smartphone
    • Email communication
    • Microsoft Excel and Word
