Job description

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operation of Detroit’s ventilation, power distribution, and life safety systems, as well as the overall maintenance of the Detroit Plaza, tunnel, toll systems, buildings, booths, and supporting equipment. This role coordinates closely with the Operations Manager, work crews, contractors, and U.S. Customs & Border Patrol to ensure safe, efficient maintenance activities and uninterrupted primary and secondary inspection operations.

The supervisor manages corrective and preventative maintenance projects, responds to operational issues and emergencies, and serves as a liaison between the company and government agencies, particularly during critical incidents. Ensuring a safe and compliant work environment is a key focus, including identifying hazards, enforcing company policies, complying with safety legislation, and operating effectively within a union environment. The position also involves supervising union and non-union staff, assigning and reassigning work as needed to maintain 24/7 operations, managing inventory, and ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.

Qualified candidates are licensed commercial electricians with at least five years of experience, including supervisory experience, strong customer service skills, and the ability to work independently while making sound business-based decisions. Years of Experience: 5+ years of experience in commercial maintenance Required Skills: Licensed commercial electrician with 5+ years of experience (Master Electrician certification) 2+ years of experience supervising staff (union and non-union). Excellent skills and ability to supervise staff and effectively manage maintenance projects.

Experience in 24/7 industrial maintenance operations Knowledge of toll and traffic operations Secondary Skills Ability to work independently and make business-based decisions.
