Alsip MiniMill, LLC was formed in 2015 when Corrugated Supplies Company purchased the idle lightweight coated paper mill in Alsip, Illinois. The mill was reengineered to produce 100% recycled Corrugating Medium, becoming a valuable supplier to the parent company, CSC. In addition to its profound impact on the local economy, Alsip MiniMill consumes over 250,000 tons per year of old corrugated containers and clippings; helping to keep these resources out of our landfills. Corrugated Supplies Company is the largest sheet feeder in the United States. With nine locations throughout the country, CSC is home to the most advanced fleet of corrugators.

Job Overview

We are looking for experienced journeyman millwright Technicians to join our team at Alsip MiniMill. Candidates will be responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting problems, performing emergency repairs and installing parts and upgrades as necessary. This position requires heavy work in an industrial environment. Paper Mill or very heavy industrial experience is a big plus. Selected employees will be required to join United Steel Workers Union upon their 45th working day.

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Put safety first in all tasks and situations: comply with all Mill policies and procedures
  • Ability to read and work from prints, diagrams, schematics specification, instructions, operations manuals and manufacturer's manuals and specifications to perform scheduled and emergency repairs.
  • Safely use material-handling equipment including but not limited to Chain falls, chokers, forklifts, mobile and overhead cranes.
  • Take direction from work order system and complete work, including all required paperwork and data entry tasks.
  • Provide training to other technicians in your area of expertise.

Minimum Education and Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 5 years' experience in heavy industrial environment, journeyman-level experience as a millwright, pipe fitter, metal worker.
  • Thorough understanding of and compliance with codes and OSHA regulations, including arc flash, LOTO, fall protection, hot work and job hazard analysis.
  • Basic Hydraulics & Pneumatics; Blueprint reading.
  • Experience in rebuild and installation of the following:
    • Pumps and agitator
    • Gearboxes and Valves
  • Experience installing the following:
    • Roll Bearing and Bearing Housing
    • Seal and packing
    • sole plates, concrete, leveling and alignment
    • conveyors, tracking, drives, rolls and splicing
  • Heavy rigging knowledge
  • Welding and fabrication skills
  • Industrial Pipefitting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Tig, Mig and Stick welding experience
  • Competent in light electrical work required to support Mill needs
  • Competent in lighting electrical work (480 volts or less) to support mill needs

  • Work space is not climate controlled and can reach both hot and cold extremes. (20 to 110 degrees Fahrenheit)
  • Frequent exposure to wet and/or humid conditions
  • Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration
  • Exposure to a consistently loud work environment
  • Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing stairs/ladders and the ability to stand /walk for 8-12 hours.
  • Mandatory overtime is required up to 16 hours on occasion.
