Job description

Position: Nursing - Registered Nurse (RN)

Reports to: This position reports to their Clinical Team Leader.


Salary Pay: $45k - $50k (based on experience)

Job Type: Contract

Job Description:

The RN will initiate and provide nursing and medical care for the patients. This critical important position will provide various services to ensure overall wellness and continuity of care to those whom the agency serve. The RN will also provide an array of CORE or other Medicaid services to individuals according to the most recent FY Medicaid guidelines, policies and procedures, and NBT guidelines, policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in healthcare field or
  • Completed a nursing program approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing.
  • Current Georgia Licensure by the Georgia Board of Nursing.
  • Certification at CACII, CAC-II, and/or CADC-II level is a plus to provide substance counseling.
  • First Aid/CPR Certified.
  • Minimum of 1-year experience working with clientele suffering from MH/SA issues and their families a plus.
  • Maintain documentation of completing 20 contact hours every 2 years from the Georgia Nursing Board for approved continuing education courses.

Duties Include:

  1. Provide nutritional assessments and perform nursing assessments and examine their medical history.
  2. Take the patient's vital signs such as respiration, temperature, blood pressure and heart rate.
  3. Educate and encourage patients to avoid unhealthy routines and understand documentation or paperwork.
  4. Keep health records updated along with TB tests and drug screens.
  5. Assist Nurse Practioner and other superior nurses to develop best care plan for the patients.
  6. Take verbal orders from MD (Doctor of Medicine) or other superior nurse(s).
  7. Provide the basic care like dressing wounds, changing bandages and giving injections.
  8. Talk to patients about their present problems, allergies, medications and keep an eye on their medical records.
  9. Undertake various office responsibilities: answer calls and reply to messages, submit requested documents, execute triage within the scope of registered nursing practice in an accurate and precise way.
  10. Help coordinate patient referrals.
  11. Call pharmacies for ordering prescriptions if necessary.
  12. Assessing and monitoring a patient's medical and other health issues that are either directly related to the mental health or substance related disorder, or to the treatment of the disorder (e.g. diabetes, cardiac and/or blood pressure issues, substance withdrawal symptoms, weight gain and fluid retention, seizures, etc.).
  13. Assessing and monitoring the patient's response to medication(s) to determine the need to continue medication and/or to determine the need to refer the patient to a physician for a medication review.
  14. Providing nursing assessments and interventions to observe, monitor and care for physical, nutritional, behavioral health and related psychosocial issues, problems or crises manifested in the course of the patient's treatment.
  15. Consulting with patient's family/caregiver about medical, nutritional and other health issues related to the individual's mental health or substance related issues.
  16. Venipuncture required to monitor and assess mental health, substance disorders or directly related conditions, and to monitor side effects of psychotropic medications, as ordered by a Licensed Physician, Physician Assistant or Advanced Practical Nurse.
  17. Providing assessment, testing, and referral for infectious diseases.
  18. Supervise the LPNs and CNAs staff.

  2. Collaborating with other professionals.
  3. Be a productive member of the staff.
  4. Communicate effectively, clearly, and appropriately and ensure client care and clinician concerns are known.
  5. Use excellent judgment.
  6. Prompt arrival to sessions/meetings is strongly encouraged.
