Facilities Repairman

Location: Pontiac/Oak Park, MI; Employment Type: Full-time Pay Type: Non-Salaried Reports To: Manufacturing Manager Department: Manufacturing Classification: Not Exempt

Gonzalez is a US owned middle market, +300-team member, manufacturing & services company with three North American locations. There are two main divisions of Gonzalez: Gonzalez Production Systems (GPS), which is primarily involved in robotics automation & integration and Gonzalez Contract Services (GCS), which is a staffing company that also does prototype engineering and manufacturing. Purpose of Position:

Responsible for the general maintenance and upkeep of all fabrication and machining equipment, company facilities, including infrastructure, and building improvements.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Conduct and/or coordinate all manufacturing equipment installs, maintenance and repairs (Equipment Types: High-low/fork trucks, paint booths, manual mills, CNC machines, welding equipment, plasma cutters, benders and thread cutters, presses & precision grind machines
    1. May replace or repair worn or damaged parts or components and reassemble
    2. May perform some machining on replacement parts or may do electrical troubleshooting and repairs
  • Perform preventative maintenance on building equipment, machines, mobile equipment
  • Perform minor building maintenance including but not limited to light electrical, plumbing, cement work, etc.
  • Preparations for seasonal weather
  • Coordinating of all building maintenance activities and improvements
  • Coordinating of any outside contractor obligations related to maintenance and improvement (non-manufacturing activities)
  • Work closely with plant managers on building maintenance, infrastructure, and repair
  • Compliance to statutory and regulatory requirements and standards
  • Communicating effectively with internal and external customers
Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
  • Good communication skills
  • Leadership skills
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office)
  • Management skills
  • Good understanding of building trades (carpentry, electrical, and plumbing)
  • Self-time management skills
Qualified candidates possess:
  • Education: H.S Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years’ experience in machine repair
Physical requirements (to include but not limited to):
  • Spend time bending or twisting the body
  • Spend time standing, sitting, and walking
  • Ability to lift loads up to 50 lbs. and wear appropriate PPE (when necessary)
