Description

Summary:

Sourcing Managers create innovative and strategic sourcing strategies for all indirect spend categories such as technology, operational banking services, and professional services. Drive efficiency and operational excellence in deal execution, increasing profitability while reducing risk. Partner with strategic suppliers to innovate and achieve continuous improvement and value release. Act as trusted advisor to key stakeholders enabling them to engage 3rd parties with as little friction as possible.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with senior corporate and business segment management in developing sourcing strategies in support of the strategic priorities of the business.
  • Develop industry expertise in areas of expenditure responsibility and act as the point of contact with functional support units in determining current and future needs, providing advice and support regarding the best method for fulfilling those needs, and to monitoring the ongoing effectiveness of those methods.
  • Support efforts in continuous improvement sourcing approach and identify and execute performance improvement initiatives aimed at achieving year-over-year reductions in Huntington's direct non-interest expense.
  • Contribute to Huntington's diversity goals through identification of qualified minority, women or veteran owned businesses and inclusion of diverse suppliers in all major requests for proposal; participate in local supplier development councils throughout Huntington's footprint to establish relationships with diverse suppliers.
  • Monitor and manage contract renewal and expiration to ensure sufficient time for renegotiation, termination and conversion to new supplier as desired by the business.
  • Coordinate vendor relations and supplier quality assurance; performance management reviews with business segment relationship managers, developing and driving the vendor due diligence, risk assessment, mitigation and supplier quality management process across the company.
  • Keep abreast of best practices and take steps to ensure that Huntington is implementing such practices where appropriate and develop guidelines, policies and standards for the procurement of goods and services within supplier-based expense responsibility.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of experience in supply chain and/or industry-specific experience in spend responsibility.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or in a Qualitative field.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to relate well with a broad array of individuals  within and outside the company.
  • Builds relationships; able to diffuse high-tension situations comfortably.
  • Highly motivated self-starter. Drives for results. Deals well with ambiguity.
  • Outstanding quantitative skills. Thinks strategically. Innovative.
  • Strong negotiating skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
