Position Summary

The Level 3 Network Lead provides senior network engineering oversight, operational leadership, and escalation management within a 24O7 NOC. This role leads the NOC team, supports Level 1 and Level 2 triage, and serves as the primary escalation point for network issues because the customer does not have a network team available for engagement. The Level 3 Lead also supports the Cyber Backup / Cyber Vault network environment, ensuring Unisys-not the customer-owns the operational support.

Core Responsibilities

Network Leadership & Escalation

  • Serves as the highest onshift escalation point for complex network issues, including routing, switching, firewalling, VPN, and connectivity failures.
  • Provides expertlevel troubleshooting and root cause analysis, building on Level 2 responsibilities such as:

"Diagnoses and resolves complex issues across host environments and connectivity layers."

  • Ensures network credential separation from server-focused staff.

Operational Oversight

  • Oversees daily NOC operations for network monitoring, alert triage, and proactive remediation.
  • Ensures consistent execution of monitoring tasks derived from Level 2 duties like:

"Performs daily monitoring and initiates proactive measures to ensure system functionality and load balance."

  • Ensures 24O7 coverage, shift handoff quality, and operational continuity.

Incident & Problem Management

  • Owns major network incidents from detection through resolution.
  • Leads postincident reviews and drives longterm network remediation.
  • Coordinates with Windows/Linux teams for crossdomain issues while maintaining credential boundaries.

Cyber Backup / Cyber Vault Support

  • Provides network expertise for the Cyber Backup environment in Denver.
  • Ensures the NOC-not the customer's network team-supports this service.
  • Trains Level 2 network staff on Cyber Backup network requirements.

Documentation, Compliance & Process Improvement

  • Oversees network runbooks, SOPs, diagrams, and configuration documentation.
  • Ensures accurate configuration data, consistent with Level 2 expectations such as:

"Updates system records... and maintains accurate configuration data."

  • Identifies operational gaps and implements improvements across tools and workflows.

Team Leadership & Knowledge Transfer

  • Provides daily guidance, coaching, and technical mentorship to Level 2 and Level 1 staff.
  • Validates readiness and ensures consistent execution of network procedures.
  • Reviews and approves runbooks and howto guides created by Level 2 network staff.

You will be successful in this role if you have:

Key Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree and 4-6 years of relevant experience OR equivalent combination.
  • Deep expertise in network engineering (routing, switching, firewalls, VPN, load balancing).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams in a 24O7 operational environment.
  • Strong background in incident management and operational reporting.
  • U.S. Citizenship and U.S. residency required.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts and support missioncritical operations.
