This position will be based at Ashburn, VA (remote or Hybrid)
Responsibilities:
NOC Operations Management
• Manage the day-to-day operations of a 24x7 Network Operations Center (NOC) supporting enterprise systems, networks, and cloud environments.
• Lead, mentor, and develop NOC personnel, ensuring appropriate staffing, training, and performance management.
• Establish and maintain operational procedures, shift schedules, and escalation processes.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), service level agreements (SLAs), and operational metrics to drive continuous improvement.
• Coordinate operational activities across network, systems, cybersecurity, and engineering teams.
Incident & Problem Management
• Oversee the identification, triage, escalation, and resolution of network and infrastructure incidents.
• Ensure timely communication of service outages and operational impacts to stakeholders.
• Lead post-incident reviews and facilitate root cause analysis activities.
• Develop and maintain incident management procedures, runbooks, and operational playbooks.
• Support business continuity and disaster recovery exercises.
Network & Infrastructure Monitoring
• Ensure continuous monitoring of enterprise infrastructure, including servers, network devices, applications, and cloud resources.
• Oversee the use of monitoring and management tools to maintain system availability and performance.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on capacity planning, maintenance activities, and system upgrades.
• Support patch management and change control processes across operational environments.
• Validate backup operations and system health checks.
Security & Compliance Support
• Collaborate with Information Assurance and Cybersecurity teams to support compliance initiatives, including NIST, FISMA, and organizational security requirements.
• Ensure NOC personnel appropriately identify and escalate cybersecurity events.
• Support continuous monitoring activities and maintain operational documentation for audits and assessments.
• Assist with the implementation of security monitoring tools and operational best practices.
• Maintain awareness of emerging threats and operational impacts to enterprise environments.
Cloud Operations Support
• Support the monitoring and operational management of AWS and other cloud environments.
• Coordinate with cloud engineering teams to ensure operational readiness and service availability.
• Assist with implementing cloud monitoring, logging, and alerting capabilities.
• Ensure cloud operational procedures are documented and followed.
• Participate in cloud-related incident response and troubleshooting efforts.
Leadership & Collaboration
• Serve as the primary point of contact for NOC operations and escalation activities.
• Collaborate with vendors, customers, and internal stakeholders to resolve operational issues.
• Collaborate with Security, Engineering, and Cloud teams during the planning and implementation of network and infrastructure solutions to ensure designs incorporate security best practices, operational requirements, and supportability considerations
• Lead operational improvement initiatives and recommend process enhancements.
• Foster a culture of accountability, customer service, and operational excellence.
• Stay current with industry trends, monitoring technologies, and operational best practices.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or a related field preferred with 5+ years of experience in Network Operations, IT Operations, or Infrastructure Support and 2+ years of experience managing or leading NOC, Service Desk, or Operations personnel.
• ITIL Foundation, CompTIA Security+, or CompTIA Network+ preferred.
• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent certification preferred.
• AWS Cloud Practitioner or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator certification is a plus.
Experience
• Experience supporting enterprise network and infrastructure environments.
• Familiarity with federal compliance requirements (NIST, FISMA, or similar frameworks) preferred.
• Experience managing operational incidents and leading cross-functional teams.
• Experience supporting cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) preferred.
Security Clearance
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance
Technical Skills
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and network troubleshooting principles.
• Experience with network and infrastructure monitoring tools (SolarWinds, PRTG, Splunk, Datadog, Nagios, or similar platforms).
• Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Knowledge of ticketing and IT service management tools (ServiceNow, Jira, Remedy, etc.).
• Understanding of cybersecurity monitoring concepts and incident escalation procedures.
• Basic knowledge of cloud services and operational support within AWS environments.
• Familiarity with scripting or automation tools (PowerShell, Python, or Bash) preferred.
Leadership & Communication
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to lead teams in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.
• Experience presenting operational metrics and status updates to leadership.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive operational excellence.
• Demonstrated experience building collaborative relationships across technical and business teams.
Salary: Min: $125,000.00 Max $150,000.00 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. Telos offers an excellent compensation package with benefits that include generous paid time off, medical, dental, vision, tuition reimbursement, and 401k.
