Familiarity with basic navigation tools, two-way radios, and first aid is typically required, with many organizations offering on-the-job training or requiring certification in CPR and first aid. Teamwork, problem-solving, and the ability to remain calm under pressure are crucial soft skills in this role. These skills are vital to ensure the safety and effectiveness of SAR operations, especially in high-stress or rapidly changing environments.

Teamwork, reliability, and a willingness to learn are highly valued, and many organizations offer ongoing training and certification programs to help you advance within the team. Collaboration with law enforcement, emergency medical services, and other rescue professionals is a regular part of the role, providing excellent opportunities for skill development and career growth.
