This position plays an important behind-the-scenes role in supporting library operations by shelving materials, preparing meeting spaces for programs and community events, assisting patrons with basic technology, and helping maintain a clean, safe, and organized facility.

This position works approximately 12-16 hours per week based on the operational needs of the Library. Evening and weekend availability is required.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
As a Library Page, you will:
  • Organize and accurately shelve library materials using the Dewey Decimal System and other library classification systems.
  • Read shelves for accuracy and ensure collections remain organized and accessible.
  • Retrieve, sort, and re-shelve returned or misplaced materials.
  • Assist in preparing library materials for circulation, repair, or removal from the collection.
  • Help patrons with self-service technology including printers, copiers, scanners, and other public equipment.
  • Set up and break down meeting rooms and event spaces for library programs, classes, and facility rentals.
  • Move tables, chairs, library furniture, and equipment as needed.
  • Assist with monitoring facility rentals and ensuring participants follow established facility guidelines.
  • Help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming library environment through light custodial and facility support tasks.
  • Receive, move, and organize donated library materials and supplies.
  • Perform other related duties that support library operations and customer service.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school. Applicant must be 18 years or older and available to work up to 10 - 20 hours a week, Monday-Sunday.
Experience
No experience required. No prior library experience is required. Customer service, library, retail, recreation, or other public-facing experience is desirable but not required.
Availability
Must be at least 18 years of age and available to work 12-16 hours per week, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Physical Requirements
This position is active and requires frequent movement throughout the workday. Essential physical activities include:
  • Standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and stretching.
  • Lifting and carrying materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Pushing and pulling loaded book carts and other equipment.
  • Setting up and moving tables, chairs, and other furnishings for programs and community events.

Candidates must also be able to:
  • Read book labels, shelving guides, and written instructions.
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers and members of the public.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT PROCESS
Final candidates will be required to successfully complete:
  • Fingerprint-based background investigation
  • Pre-employment medical examination (for positions where applicable)

These examinations are conducted at the City's expense. Applicants are encouraged not to resign from their current employment until they have received a final written offer of employment.

Part-time employees must also contribute 1.45% of their gross earnings for Medicare coverage. No health or vacation leave benefits are provided to temporary part-time positions. Sick leave is accrued in accordance with the Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Family Act of 2014.

This position is a part time position, which will include working mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends. The Yorba Linda Public Library is open Monday - Thursday 9:00 am - 8:00 pm and Fridays and Saturdays from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm. Please indicate your availability.

  • My availability has some restrictions and am unable to work the days and times noted below.
