Responsibilities
The Nursing Informatics Specialist is a dynamic individual possessing analytical, logical and problem solving skills. The Nursing Informatics Specialist will act in conjunction with the departments of patient care services, IT, and other disciplines to coordinate aspects of assessing, planning, designing, developing, training, implementing, maintaining, supporting, and evaluating clinical information systems. The systems include: Epic (documentation, order entry, medication administration, patient portal), Integrated Nurse Call/Personal Communication Devices/Clinical Alarms, Interactive Patient Care System, the nursing site on the hospital's intranet, and future systems to be implemented. The Nursing Informatics Specialist will work collaboratively with other members of the informatics team to analyze current and future end user requirements, procedures, and workflow, in order to provide application solutions that support and improve organization, division, and or department operations. Additionally, the Nursing Informatics Specialist is involved with the development of training materials, teaching in nursing orientation, ongoing education and support to meet the needs of the clinical staff in the operational use of the information systems. The Nursing Informatics Specialist must be able to develop and update policies and procedures pertaining to the use of clinical information systems.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
  • Master's Degree in Nursing Informatics or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years as registered nurse.
  • Minimum 2 years in healthcare/nursing informatics.
  • Experience with variety of clinical information systems
  • Experience with large scale implementation of Hospital Application Systems (Clinical).
  • Experience with developing training plans/materials and computer systems education/teaching
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software and Microsoft Operating Systems.
  • Current, Active State of Maryland RN license

Salary Information
Compensation decisions are made in alignment with internal equity, role scope, and market data to ensure fair and consistent pay practices. Most new hires are typically placed within the lower to mid-portion of the range; offers above that level are reserved for candidates with advanced or highly specialized qualifications.
