JOB TITLE: Azure Cloud Engineer
EMPLOYER: Karpel Solutions

WORK LOCATION: Hybrid (St. Louis, MO)
SUMMARY: Karpel Solutions is seeking an Azure Cloud Engineer to help design, support, and troubleshoot Azure cloud solutions for our company's software applications. Cloud Engineers will work in a self-motivated team to advise on modern cloud infrastructure solutions to support the company's SaaS product. Engineers will also partner closely with Karpel's internal IT team as needed to support in-house system issues and improve the company's overall network. Qualified applicants should have a strong background in IT; work well under pressure; are eager to learn and grow; and excel in a dynamic, changing, supportive environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Researches, evaluates, and recommends modern cloud infrastructure design improvements to ensure architecture is stable, performant, secure, and cost-effective
  • Automates routine tasks using Infrastructure-as-Code deployments
  • Servers as Tier 3 escalation for Windows Server and other cloud-related service issues
  • Collaborates with support, application, and operation teams to align contributions with larger company initiatives
  • Monitors resource stability & proactively corrects performance issues when they arise
  • Enforces infrastructure best practices as outlined in the Azure Well-Architected Framework
  • Supports and enforces Microsoft 365 security policies and best practices, such as MFA and Conditional Access
  • Performs system administration tasks, including patching and configuration management
  • Configures, monitors, and validates regular system backups to ensure data integrity and recovery capabilities
  • Collaborates with other IT professionals and vendors to ensure seamless integration of systems and services
  • Participates in ongoing training and attainment of manufacturer certifications to further develop technical skills
  • Develops and maintains relationships with customers that further develop our company's positive reputation through exceptional customer services
  • Utilizes effective soft skills to work effectively both individually and among the overall IT team
  • Other duties as assigned by the IT Manager

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 4-7 years of IT experience, with at least two years as a System Engineer/Cloud Engineer
  • Experience with managing cloud infrastructure platforms (preferably Azure)
  • Expert knowledge of Windows Server OS, especially Virtual Machines, IIS, and SQL servers
  • Strong knowledge of server maintenance, including cloud-native or third-party backup solutions and OS updates management
  • Strong knowledge of Active Directory Domain Service and GPO management
  • Intermediate to strong knowledge of best practices for cloud-native resources, including but not limited to blob storage, app services, PaaS SQL servers, load balancers/application gateways/Azure Front Door, Key Vault, AI Foundry, and related services
  • Some degree of PowerShell proficiency
  • At least 3 years of experience in supporting Microsoft 365 administration and services
  • At least 3 years of experience in supporting Windows OS desktops and laptops
  • Excellent communication skills with a customer service orientation and an ability to work well with all levels of the organization
  • Able to demonstrate professionalism and empathetic behavior in the resolution of both routine and complex customer problems
  • Manage multiple high-priority initiatives in a fast-paced, highly technical environment
  • Highly self-motivated and organized
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Relevant technical certifications are a plus
