Overview of Role

The Cloud Engineer will take on the challenge of building, and maintaining complex infrastructure and data systems on the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) for 66degrees' global clients. You will be instrumental in optimizing performance, scalability, and security of these critical cloud environments, ensuring our clients receive the best service possible.

Responsibilities
  • Lead collaborations with architects and teams to design highly scalable and resilient infrastructure solutions on GCP.
  • Drive the implementation of advanced Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles using tools like Terraform or Google Cloud Deployment Manager to automate intricate infrastructure provisioning and management.
  • Spearhead the integration of DevOps methodologies, guiding developers to establish sophisticated CI/CD pipelines within the cloud ecosystem.
  • Assume a leadership role in implementing and enforcing stringent security measures and ensuring robust compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) in the GCP environment.
  • Architect and establish comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and logging solutions to guarantee the continuous health and availability of all infrastructure components.
  • Formulate and oversee comprehensive backup and disaster recovery strategies and procedures for mission-critical systems.
  • Proactively identify, analyze, and mitigate complex performance bottlenecks, continually optimizing infrastructure for maximum efficiency.
  • Take charge of diagnosing and swiftly resolving intricate infrastructure issues, providing expert guidance and support.
  • Drive comprehensive documentation of cloud architecture, configurations, and processes, ensuring a clear knowledge repository and promoting thorough system understanding.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with diverse teams, including data scientists, engineers, analysts, and software developers, ensuring alignment with requirements and delivering innovative solutions.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with cloud platforms, specifically GCP, showcasing expertise in designing, deploying, and managing cloud-based infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, Deployment Manager, or similar platforms.
  • In-depth understanding of GCP services such as Compute Engine, Kubernetes Engine, Cloud Storage, Networking, and IAM, coupled with familiarity in container orchestration using Kubernetes.
  • Experience working with Ansible is must have.
  • Experienced in deploying and optimizing Google Cloud Data services such as BigQuery, Cloud SQL, Dataflow, Firestore, Cloud Bigtable, Dataproc, and Pub/Sub for efficient data storage, processing, and analytics within GCP environments.
  • Skilled in scripting languages like Python and Bash for automation and configuration management, and proficient in managing both Linux and Windows OS.
  • Strong grasp of security best practices, compliance frameworks (e.g., CIS, GDPR, HIPAA), and experience implementing them.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration abilities, both independently and within teams.
  • Passion for technology and continuous learning.
  • GCP Professional Cloud Architect or Google Cloud Associate Cloud Engineer certification (preferred).
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related or equivalent work experience required.
