SAIC is seeking a skilled and motivated Cloud Engineer to join our team in supporting an IT Service Management (ITSM) effort for the U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) located at Scott Air Force Base (AFB), Illinois. Be part of the prestigious MITS (Managed Information Technology Services) contract, where innovation and modernization meet the critical demands of a Combatant Command tasked with enabling global logistics and mobility.

This is a career-defining opportunity to provide strategic, technical, and hands-on cloud engineering expertise to TCJ6, USTRANSCOM's tech-forward Command, Control, Communications & Cyber Systems Directorate. You'll play a pivotal role in supporting the operations, optimization, security, and modernization of mission-critical infrastructure, applications, and systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, design, and implement next-generation commercial cloud architectures with a focus on security, scalability, resiliency, and operational excellence.
  • Lead the migration, re-platforming, and integration of applications into cloud environments, focusing on modernization, automation, and process improvement.
  • Apply your expertise in tools such as AWS, Azure, Linux, scripting languages like PowerShell/bash, and ITSM tools to create efficiencies that enable mission success.
  • Ensure adherence to DoD cloud computing policies (e.g., guidelines for IL5/IL6 Commercial Cloud Service Offerings).
  • Take an active role in testing, troubleshooting, and optimizing complex cloud/virtualization systems while keeping pace with technological advancements.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree (BS/BA) and 2+ years of experience in cloud engineering, IT systems, or related fields.
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance.
  • Current certifications:
  • AWS Cloud Engineer Certification and experience operating AWS environments.
  • IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+, CECCNA-Security, CySA+ **, GICSP, GSEC, or SSCP).
  • Computing Environment Certification for Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, Oracle, etc.). Azure certifications preferred.
  • Expertise in AWS GovCloud services and IL5/IL6 environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and proficiency in command-line administration.
  • PowerShell/Bash experience for scripting and automation.
  • Knowledge of IT Service Management (ITSM) tool suites and familiarity with Active Directory forests, enclave domain systems, and security measures like STIGs.
