Overview:

Position Title: Biochemist I
Division: Consumer Products Services
Entity: ATL
Location: Indianapolis, IN
Reports to: Manager
FLSA: Non-exempt
Hours Worked:Typically, Monday through Friday, forty-hours per week. However, must be flexible to meet the needs of the department and complete other projects as assigned.
Position Summary:
The Biochemist I will support the early molecule discovery team by performing biophysical assay techniques to drive ligand identification and classification. This role is primarily hands-on laboratory work in support of early-stage drug discovery programs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
It is everyone's responsibility to live out our Values and Absolutes by Shaping a World of Trust while ensuring responsible progress.
  • Provide sample preparation and data acquisition support to members in the Bio-NMR group. Prepare buffers, solvents, and samples with rigorous attention to purity, pH, and concentration specifications.
  • Help to maintain and operate our two NMR spectrometers, including 600 and 700 MHz Bruker systems. Assist with periodic instrument parameters calibrations (pulse widths, temperature, etc.) and maintain logs of performance checks. Coordinate with vendors and PI for PM/repairs/upgrades/troubleshooting hardware/software issues.
  • Help to maintain and operate nephelometer, ITC, and other bioanalytical instruments
  • Oversee laboratory housekeeping: inventory control of consumables, order supplies, and ensure chemical hygiene compliance to maintain a productive, organized lab environment
  • Manage compound/protein receiving and delivery into the laboratory for testing
  • Work within our quality system to maintain accurate records of all experimental details and results
  • Work within, and help to advance, our culture of safety in the workplace
  • Coordinate ordering and restocking of laboratory consumables and reagents as needed
  • Follows the guidelines set forth in by clients and the Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, Inc Quality Manual and Safety / Chemical Hygiene Plan.
  • Adhere to the requirements of the BV-CPS Quality System.
  • Other duties as defined by Manager, department needs and workload.
  • Accurately report and record test data in electronic notebook or handwritten notebooks as needed in a timely manner
  • Comply with clients and Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, Inc management systems in accordance with appropriate regulatory agencies.
  • Report safety, instrument and technical issues to the appropriate contacts.

  • Familiar with fluorescence, luminescence, and mass spectrometry-based assay

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Biochemistry or closely related field
  • Minimum of 1 year(s) of related experience

Compensation Range: $26.00-$28.00 per hour (e.g., the job posting is not necessarily reflective of actual compensation that may be earned, and actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as location, education, experience, and skillset).
