Nippon Express U.S.A., Inc. (“NEU”) was incorporated in New York in 1962 as a fully owned subsidiary of NX.  NEU provides logistics solutions and comprehensive transportation services through its international freight forwarding and logistics network, including specialized handling of: air, land, sea and express packages; all types and sizes of cargo; personal effects and household goods; fragile and perishable freight; and livestock.  NEU also provides related services, such as warehousing, distribution and customs brokerage and clearance. NEU operates at 55 locations in 27 states within the U.S., with approximately 1300 employees.  NEU has enjoyed tremendous growth and success as one of the top five international freight forwarders in the world. This position is 100% onsite. 

Bilingual in Japanese/ English (read & writing) is required. 


Purpose:   Assist the sales manager and team by providing mainly “inside” administrative and customer service support.

Essential Duties: 

  • Basic Contact with Existing and Prospective Customers (10%)
  • Communication and coordination with HO and branch departments (15%)
  • Administrative – utilization of  computers to research, create and maintain databases and reports, create and maintain marketing and sales materials, manage and enforce salesforce with CSHQ and network (75%)

Technical

  • Maintain industry and market database, files, and information
  • Prepare and support major client quotations. Bids and RFQs through coordination and database creation
  • Communicate with customers to provide the information and/or seek information to assist
  • Customer service support for new and existing sales programs
  • Use Customer and prospect contact activities, tools, and systems to update relevant information in these systems.

 

General Operations support  and interface functions

  • Close interface to Import and Export functions, including document breakdowns and preparation of consolidation packages, and orientation on the needs and specifications of specific customers.
  • Coordinate with import, export, and warehouse staff as appropriate to assure quality and obtain customer-requested information.

Salary: $43,692 - $54,600 

This salary range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on various factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law. At NEU, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role.

  • Strong computer and analytical skills – Microsoft Office Products. PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
  • Bilingual in Japanese/ English (read & writing)

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to sit in front of a computer for long periods in an office environment. 
  • Must have manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard and other office machines: e.g., calculators, photocopiers, printers, etc. 
  • Must have corrected vision to view a computer screen.
