Job description

Vice President, Business Development
Position Summary
The Vice President, Business Development is responsible for driving strategic growth through Nippon Sanso Matheson's independent distributor network and other gas, equipment, and technology related businesses. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this position will identify, develop, and manage relationships with independent distributor owners and business leaders to create new sales opportunities, and build a pipeline of acquisition and investment opportunities aligned with the company's long-term growth strategy.

This role combines business development, strategic relationship management, corporate development, and M&A origination. The VP will work closely with distributor principals, business leaders, NSM commercial leadership, and the CFO to identify opportunities for organic sales growth, strategic partnerships, and acquisitions.

Salary Range: $210,000 - $250,000 (annually +bonus)

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute business development strategies to accelerate sales growth through the independent distributor channel.
  • Build trusted relationships with business owners, executives, and key stakeholders in order to build a pipeline of acquisition opportunities.
  • Develop a deep understanding of distributor ownership structures, succession plans, and business performance.
  • Track emerging technology and adjacent industry prospects.
  • Conduct preliminary assessments of acquisition targets, including strategic fit, financial performance, growth potential, and business alignment.
  • Support financial model development and strategic business cases for investment decisions.
  • Prepare acquisition opportunity summaries and recommendations for the CFO and executive leadership team.
  • Partner with Finance, Legal, and Operations throughout transaction evaluation and integration planning.
  • Support post-closing operations integration and business performance tracking.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field. MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in industrial gases with emphasis in business development, distributor/executive level sales management, or M&A.
  • Demonstrated experience developing executive-level relationships with business owners and entrepreneurs.
  • Understanding of financial statements, valuation methodologies, and acquisition analysis.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
