What is a night custodian?

Night custodians are cleaning and maintenance professionals who work during evening or overnight hours to ensure buildings, such as schools, offices, or hospitals, are clean, safe, and ready for use each day. Their duties typically include sweeping and mopping floors, emptying trash, sanitizing restrooms, restocking supplies, and performing minor repairs. Working at night allows custodians to complete their tasks with minimal disruption to daily operations and building occupants.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be a night custodian?

To thrive as a Night Custodian, you need basic cleaning and maintenance skills, attention to detail, and a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, vacuum cleaners, and the use of cleaning chemicals is typically required. These competencies ensure a clean, safe environment while allowing facilities to operate efficiently and meet hygiene standards.
