Job description

Controls Engineer – Building Automation & Tridium Niagara (Cincinnati, OH)

Comfort Systems USA Ohio is expanding our Building Automation & Controls Team in Cincinnati and seeks a talented, driven Controls Engineer with hands‑on Tridium Niagara experience to support smarter, more efficient building systems. The role focuses on commercial Building Automation Systems (BAS/DDC), HVAC controls, and Tridium Niagara N4. You will collaborate with project managers, field technicians, contractors, and customers throughout the project lifecycle.

What You’ll Do
  • Configure and program Tridium Niagara N4 building automation systems, including points, alarms, trends, schedules, graphics, histories, and integrations.
  • Develop and program Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems for commercial HVAC applications.
  • Develop control strategies and interpret HVAC sequences of operation.
  • Assist with system architecture, point lists, control drawings, wiring diagrams, and project submittals.
  • Integrate HVAC equipment and third‑party building systems using BACnet, Modbus, and related communication protocols.
  • Support BAS startup, commissioning, functional testing, troubleshooting, and system optimization.
  • Work with commercial HVAC equipment such as RTUs, AHUs, VAVs, boilers, chillers, pumps, and related mechanical systems.
  • Collaborate with project managers, field technicians, contractors, and customers throughout project execution.
  • Provide technical troubleshooting support and assist customer or facility staff training.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, backups, as‑built drawings, programming records, and closeout materials.
What We’re Looking For
  • Approximately 1–3 years of hands‑on experience with Tridium Niagara, preferably Niagara N4.
  • Hands‑on experience with commercial Building Automation Systems (BAS/DDC) and HVAC controls.
  • Bachelor's or associate degree in engineering, engineering technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent directly relevant experience.
  • Experience programming, configuring, commissioning, or troubleshooting BAS/DDC systems.
  • Solid understanding of commercial HVAC systems and sequences of operation.
  • Working knowledge of BACnet, Modbus, and building automation communication protocols.
  • Strong technical problem‑solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with chilled‑water systems, boiler plants, central plant controls, or more complex HVAC sequences is a plus.
  • Experience integrating lighting, security, access control, energy management, meters, or IP‑based building systems is a plus.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Visio, EcoStruxure, or other BAS platforms is a plus.
  • Tridium Niagara N4 certification is preferred but not required.
