Job description

Lead Complex Transportation Design as a Senior Engineering Designer โ€” Deliver High-Impact Highway & Rail Solutions

Are you ready to apply your design expertise to projects that strengthen mobility, improve safety, and connect communities? Do you enjoy collaborating with technical teams to develop precise, high-quality design deliverables for complex roadway and rail systems?

CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Senior Engineering Designer to join our Highway & Rail Team in Keene, NH. In this role, you will support the design and delivery of transportation infrastructure projectsโ€”from roadway and interchange improvements to rail corridor upgradesโ€”helping enhance the safe and efficient movement of people and goods.


  • Lead the preparation and development of contract and construction drawings for highway and rail projects using industry software such as MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer
  • Mentor junior and mid-level designers, ensuring quality and consistency across project deliverables
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams to support project requirements, schedules, and budgets
  • Participate in project review meetings and support the preparation of technical reports, material costs, and construction estimates
  • Prepare project โ€œAs-Builtsโ€ documentation and support field assignments related to transportation infrastructure projects as needed

  • Associateโ€™s Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Engineering Science, or related technical field required
  • Minimum of 7 yearsโ€™ experience in document production within the engineering discipline required
  • NHDOT experience preferred
  • Proficiency in discipline-based software (MicroStation, OpenRoads) and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a collaborative work ethic
  • Solid working knowledge of transportation engineering discipline
  • Ability to lead design drawing layout
