PURPOSE: Louisiana State University at Alexandria (LSUA) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of lnformation Technology (IT). The successful candidate will provide high-quality instruction in undergraduate Information Technology courses and support related programs by teaching selected Computer Science and Cybersecurity courses in both face-to-face and online formats.

LSUA is partnering with LSU Online to offer an accelerated Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology. The successful candidate will play a vital role in the continued growth, development, and delivery of this program while contributing to the university's mission of academic excellence, student success, scholarship, and service.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Typical duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Teach undergraduate Information Technology courses in face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats.
  • Teach selected undergraduate Computer Science and Cybersecurity courses as needed.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality instructional materials and utilize effective teaching strategies that support student success.
  • Participate in curriculum development, assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain regular office hours and provide academic support and mentoring to students in person and electronically.
  • Advise students regarding academic planning, degree completion, internships, and career pathways.
  • Contribute to the growth and success ofLSUA's Information Technology program, including support of the LSU Online partnership.
  • Maintain an active program of scholarly, professional, and/or creative activity consistent with expectations for tenure-track faculty.
  • Participate in departmental, college, and university service activities, including committee assignments and faculty governance.
  • Engage in professional development activities that support teaching effectiveness and disciplinary expertise.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chair, Dean, or University administration.

QUALIFICATIONS:

+ Required Qualifications:
  • Earned Ph.D. in Information Technology (IT) or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution. ABD candidates will be considered if the Ph.D. is completed by the time of hire.
+ Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience teaching undergraduate Information Technology, Computer Science and Cybersecurity courses.
  • Demonstrated excellence in classroom and online teaching.
  • Familiarity with or experience in online course development and delivery.
  • Evidence of engagement in scholarly or professional development activities
