What You Will Do:
We are currently searching for Bioinformatics Scientist to provide bioinformatics support to advance the institute research programs, with a primary focus on single cell and spatial omics data analysis. This is a full-time, on-site opportunity in Durham, NC.
  • Collaborate with scientists to design, analyze, manage and interpret all types of data.

  • Conduct analyses on NextGen sequencing data including data derived in ChIP-Seq,RNA-Seq, miRNA-Seq and other experimental models.

  • Work with an interdisciplinary team to apply computational data analysis approaches to make biological discoveries.

  • Conduct analysis and interpretation on data from genomic platforms including expression, exon, tiling, promoter and others array types.

  • Work independently with research groups to develop, implement, and refine analytical pipeline for single cell data analysis.

  • Develop, optimize, and maintain bioinformatics pipelines, scripts, and computational tools for large-scale data analysis (e.g., NGS, scRNA-seq, multi-omics).

  • Perform advanced statistical and computational analyses to interpret complex datasets and derive actionable biological insights.

  • Collaborate with scientists and researchers to design experiments, select appropriate analytical approaches, and troubleshoot methodologies.

  • Integrate and analyze diverse genomic and multi-omic datasets, including sequencing and public data sources.

  • Install, configure, and support scientific software across computing platforms; ensure reproducibility through standardized workflows and documentation.

  • Generate reports, visualizations, and presentations to communicate findings to scientific and technical audiences.

  • Evaluate and implement new bioinformatics tools, statistical methods, and computational approaches based on current literature and research needs.

  • Provide training and technical guidance to staff on bioinformatics tools, pipelines, and data analysis techniques.

  • Maintain detailed documentation, laboratory records, and progress reports; present findings at meetings and contribute to publications.

  • Support interdisciplinary collaborations and contribute to advancing research objectives aligned with organizational mission.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD "public trust"; candidates must receive approved adjudication prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an active public trust or suitability are preferred.

What You Will Need:
  • Master's degree in bioinformatics, biostatistics, computational biology or biological/life science.

  • At least TWO (2) years of data analysis experience.

  • Advanced proficiency in disciplines such as statistical modeling, machine learning, and integrative analysis to extract biologically meaningful insights from complex cellular systems.

  • Knowledgeable with a variety of next gen sequencing techniques.

  • Experience working with analytical tools, software and platforms such as, but not limited to, R, Python, MATLAB, SAS, PERL, Java, Shell, Bash, Seurat / Scanpy, Linux, Unix, Bioconductor, Cloud computing, High-Performance Computing (HPC).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD "public trust"; candidates must obtain approved adjudication of their public trust prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an active public trust or suitability are preferred
