Job description

  • Work closely with Newsmax foreign correspondents to coordinate international news coverage, assignments, and reporting needs.
  • Serve as a primary liaison between foreign correspondents and television show production teams.
  • Monitor and track breaking and developing international news stories and provide timely updates to the News Director and editorial teams.
  • Brief producers, editors, and newsroom leadership on significant foreign news developments and potential coverage opportunities.
  • Identify and develop international stories that may warrant coverage across Newsmax programming.
  • Coordinate correspondent live shots, taped segments, interviews, and other contributions to Newsmax programming.
  • Work with show producers and production teams to coordinate editorial information, video, correspondent contributions, and other elements needed for international news segments.
  • Coordinate with Newsmax international affiliates and partners regarding news coverage, content, resources, and developing stories.
  • Track major international events, including elections, geopolitical developments, conflicts, diplomatic events, summits, and breaking news.
  • Assist with organizing coverage of major international news events, including correspondent assignments, scheduling, production requirements, and logistics.
  • Support the development and production of international news segments by providing research, background information, story updates, and other editorial resources.
  • Maintain regular communication with correspondents and international partners across multiple locations and time zones.
  • Maintain awareness of correspondent locations, availability, assignments, and coverage capabilities.
  • Collaborate with producers, assignment editors, and newsroom leadership to ensure international coverage aligns with daily programming and editorial priorities.
  • Respond quickly to changing stories and production needs during breaking-news situations.
  • Assist with special programming and extended coverage of significant international news events.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Journalism, Communications, Liberal Arts, International Relations, Political Science, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in television news, news production, international news, assignment desk operations, or a related broadcast environment.
  • Television production experience with a strong understanding of newsroom and broadcast production workflows.
  • Experience working with producers, correspondents, assignment desks, and production teams in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Experience coordinating live shots, taped segments, interviews, correspondent coverage, or other television news production elements preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of international current events, geopolitics, and major global news developments.
  • Strong editorial judgment with the ability to identify relevant and compelling international news stories.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong research, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple developing stories, assignments, and production needs simultaneously.
  • Ability to work effectively across departments and communicate with correspondents and partners in multiple locations and time zones.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt quickly to breaking news and changing editorial priorities.
  • Must be flexible regarding work schedule and available to support breaking news and major international events outside of regular business hours when necessary.
