POSITION SUMMARY:

The ideal candidate is an experienced Product Manager capable of operating in a fast-paced, dynamic setting to work in Product Management for the organization. This candidate will report to the Director of Product Management - PD (in the interim to Sr. Director of Product Marketing - PD) and work closely with the Engineering, Product Marketing and Project Management Teams to align new products with the corporate strategy, analyze profitability for existing and new products and support the products portfolio of temperature-controlled shippers, condition monitoring systems, data services and packaging/accessories.
The Product Manager is responsible for managing the overall success of the assigned product line including new product development processes, product improvements for existing products and the successful adoption of new and existing products. The ideal candidate must be able to transform quantitative and qualitative data from market research, customer, and sales feedback into insights; be the Subject Matter Expect for the product/market and develop the strategy to drive product development and improvement priorities. In this role, you will interact with cross-functional teams including Business Development/Sales, Marketing, Operations, Engineering, Finance, Procurement and Clients to identify product improvements and new products that align with our corporate strategy and execute the product line road maps.
The role will focus on new product development and improving current products in our pipeline and will be based in Cryoport Systems' Irvine office.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES (includes but are not limited to):
Product Development
  • Determine goals and metrics for product launch(es) driven by market research, market/industry trends and voice of customer feedback. Help develop business cases and use cases for new product ideas, build buyer personas for our target markets and design elements reflect customer needs.
  • Work closely with Marketing and go-to-market teams to define relevant target market segments and audiences as well as drivers of product adoption and help to map client requirements to potential new product features and functions.
  • Partner with Product Marketing, Project Management, and Engineering to execute copy, labeling, packaging artwork and collateral material development and support product launch timelines and new product adoption metrics.
  • Understand the product strategy and roadmap, proactively identifying marketing opportunities at every phase and creating marketing strategies and execution plans.
  • Develops business case for new product introduction based on market data and need, financial impact, and competitor landscape.
  • Gathers, deciphers, and prioritizes global customer needs and translates into product requirements for product conceptualization, design, development, manufacturing, and launch in partnership with cross-functional teams.
  • Drives project development & launch readiness through stage gate process.
  • Develops product launch plan responsible for pricing, margin targets, forecast and revenue planning.
  • Supports development of multi-year product development roadmaps, global rollout sequences, and financial modeling for assigned products that align with overall strategic priorities.
  • Serve as a key subject matter expert for assigned products.
  • Partners with operations and sales to develop and execute a process for forecasting, ordering, delivery, installing, and training of products.

Competitive Analysis
  • Understand the competitive landscape-be one of the Subject Matter Experts with Product Marketing on our competition and how they are positioned.
  • Builds and maintains competitive intelligence and analysis that informs portfolio strategy.
  • Maintain awareness of competitive products, potential competitive products, competitors, and competitor capabilities.
  • Develop and maintain deep understanding of market trends.
  • Partner with Product Marketing to collect and analyze data on competitors and helps to organize this data into meaningful information.
  • Identify strengths and weaknesses of proposed products relative to the competition, can anticipate competitive responses, and can consider competitive actions in the development of sales projections.

Lifecycle Management
  • Develop goals, metrics and analyze sales and profit performance of assigned product area. Assess effects for marketing promotions by providing reports and recommendations for marketing campaigns and updates to collateral for existing and new products to achieve revenue goals for assigned product areas.
  • Manage sales forecasts and budgets for assigned product areas to support S&OP and demand planning.
  • Work closely with Global Sourcing team on inventory management of products and materials.
  • Develop features and benefits of each product and maintain changes or updates to collateral, specification sheets, slide decks and client-facing forms.
  • Works hand in hand with Sales, Product Marketing, and Engineering to verify product requirements are being captured through development lifecycle.
  • Manage product line roadmap and lifecycle.

Product Marketing
  • Provides product knowledge to assist Marketing with the development and execution of go-to-market strategies and marketing launch campaign plans for new products including the generation of marketing collateral, new product training for Sales, Operations and Customer Service teams and the development of creative briefs for all new launches with cross-functional teams.
  • Partners with Marketing to provide sales team training, tradeshow and content marketing support for products, including but not limited to demos, special events, webinars, case studies, white papers, blogs.
  • Assist in the development and execution of product-related content (internal and external), collateral, sales enablement tools, presentation materials, user guides, instructions, and product updates on new and existing products for sales personnel and end users.
  • Develop strong relationships with key internal stakeholders and supports internal communication and training initiatives designed to raise awareness for marketing activities and the utilization of sales support assets to facilitate new business development.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Life Sciences, Packaging, Engineering or Marketing related field required; and/or technical background with marketing experience appropriate to the specific needs of the product lines.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in market research, product marketing/ product management/ product development, lifecycle management in the medical device or packaging space.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and intermediate knowledge in Adobe Acrobat Pro, NetSuite, Power BI, Salesforce, Pardot.

Compensation: up to $145,000 + bonus, stock, 401k match and benefits
