What You Will Contribute:
Senior Mechanical Engineer - New Product Development

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to support the development of new products and enhancements to existing offerings within our engineering organization. This role is responsible for leading technical design efforts, ensuring product quality and reliability, and collaborating across multiple functions to successfully bring products to market. The ideal candidate will bring strong engineering judgment, disciplined problem-solving skills, and a proven ability to execute projects from concept through commercialization.

Key Responsibilities

Product Development and Technical Leadership

  • Lead the design and development of new products, as well as improvements to existing products, ensuring alignment with technical, market, and customer requirements.
  • Maintain responsibility for the technical integrity of designs, including performance, quality, reliability, and verification.
  • Apply sound engineering principles to troubleshoot complex system issues and improve product designs.

Verification and Testing

  • Develop, execute, and document verification test plans to confirm products meet design, regulatory, and customer specifications.
  • Prepare or oversee the development of test specifications used by quality and manufacturing teams.
  • Coordinate testing activities with internal and external laboratories, including certification bodies (e.g., UL, CE, NSF, FM, Intrinsic Safety).

Design and Engineering Excellence

  • Utilize 3D modeling and FEA tools to evaluate and refine designs.
  • Select materials and manufacturing processes that support product performance and durability, particularly in demanding environments.
  • Ensure designs meet Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) requirements.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks through structured design and analysis approaches.

Project and Team Leadership

  • Lead technical execution of cross-functional projects, ensuring milestones are achieved within established timelines and budgets.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to engineering staff as needed.
  • Contribute to the evaluation and recommendation of new technologies and product concepts.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Marketing, Manufacturing, Quality, and Production to ensure products meet cost, schedule, and performance objectives.
  • Partner with Supply Chain and Manufacturing Engineering to evaluate product costs and identify cost reduction opportunities.
  • Support Sales and Customer Service teams by providing technical expertise, including field troubleshooting and analysis of product returns.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required; Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • 7+ years of relevant engineering experience, preferably in product development
  • Proficiency with 3D modeling and FEA tools
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects to successful completion
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to work across functions and organizational levels

Preferred:

  • Experience with LabVIEW, MATLAB, or CFD
  • Familiarity with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) methodologies (Green Belt or higher)
  • Experience integrating electronic components into mechanical systems
