Job description

Eaton’s ES AMER ESS division is currently seeking a Senior New Product Development Engineer.

Expected annual salary range: $86,000 - $126,000 per year.

Salary information presented is a general guide and is based on candidate qualifications, experience, and market factors.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and execute small projects or serve as a core team member on large cross‑functional engineering projects focused on cable accessories and separable connectors for Eaton’s LIPE product line.
  • Apply creativity and innovation to develop new electro‑mechanical product solutions for electrical power systems.
  • Collaborate with technologies involving polymers, rubber mouldings, castings, and metal fabrication to transition concepts through a formal project process.
  • Develop sub‑system functional and reliability test plans and coordinate test execution using internal and external lab resources.
  • Perform Design for Cost/Design for Manufacture Analysis (DFM/DFA) on individual parts and sub‑assemblies, proposing alternate materials and manufacturing methods.
  • Translate internal and external customer requirements into measurable performance criteria, identifying and resolving poorly defined or missing requirements.
  • Creatively and efficiently solve design challenges by identifying critical elements for success and eliminating non‑value‑added elements.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience.
  • Will not consider applicants for immigration sponsorship or support for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Power Systems Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Knowledge of medium voltage electrical distribution equipment.
  • Familiarity with separable connectors and cable accessories.
  • Experience with engineering projects.
  • Experience in kinematic/dynamic analysis.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt training.
  • Experience with engineering analysis, digital simulation, and 3D modeling (CAD, FEA, statistical analysis, and relevant software applications).
  • Product design, DFM/DFA, and manufacturing knowledge.
