Job Summary
To participate in patient care ensuring that all incoming and outgoing referrals assigned are done in an efficient and professional manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Execute a clearly defined workflow to on-board and schedule new patients.
  • Must be able to handle 75+ inbound telephone calls a day with a patient friendly voice.
  • Communicate with referring offices and our physicians to schedule new patient appointments, verify benefits.
  • Advise patients to call and schedule appointment, follow up on referrals to make sure appointment is made, obtain medical records, scan records into patient’s chart and attach referral.
  • Forward all Worker’s Compensation referrals to the Worker’s Compensation Referral Coordinator.
  • Send, and follow up on all imaging referrals making sure the patient has had imaging before their next scheduled appointment.
  • Send denied referrals to the surgical scheduler.
  • Receive, review and process all new patient referrals.
  • Obtain any missing documents, follow referral guidelines, save referral, imaging and notes to the patient’s chart, verify patient’s insurance, create incoming referral, call patient to schedule appointment, and send registration packet.
  • Ability to quickly and efficiently schedule imaging appointments with outside clinics.
  • Other duties as assigned
Education/Experience/Skills/Certifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must have at least 2 years of experience in a medical office.
  • Strong customer service skills.
