What is a new graduate rotational program?

A New Graduate Rotational Program is a structured, entry-level employment program designed for recent college graduates. It typically involves rotating through several different departments or job functions within a company over a set period, usually 1-2 years. This allows participants to gain broad experience, develop diverse skills, and better understand the organization. At the end of the program, participants are often placed into a permanent role that aligns with their interests and the company's needs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in a new graduate rotational program, and why are they important?

Success in a New Graduate Rotational Program requires a relevant bachelor’s degree, foundational industry knowledge, and a demonstrated ability to learn quickly. Familiarity with productivity tools like Microsoft Office, basic data analysis platforms, and sometimes internal enterprise systems is often expected. Strong interpersonal skills, adaptability, and proactive communication help participants build relationships and excel in diverse teams. These competencies enable new graduates to maximize learning, contribute effectively across rotations, and position themselves for long-term growth within the organization.

What are some common challenges participants face in a new graduate rotational program, and how can they be addressed?

Participants in New Graduate Rotational Programs often encounter challenges such as quickly adapting to new teams and varying work cultures, managing shifting expectations across different departments, and learning new skills in a fast-paced environment. To address these challenges, it's important to remain adaptable, proactively seek feedback, and build strong communication channels with mentors and peers. Successfully navigating these transitions not only builds resilience but also provides valuable exposure to multiple aspects of the organization, setting a strong foundation for future career growth.

ADVANCE YOUR CAREER. ADVANCE THE WORLD.

At AMD, we believe technology can change lives for the better. It can heal us, entertain us, and make us more connected, productive, and understanding of the world around us. And we’re looking for talent who feel the same: people who want to leave the planet better than they found it, those who don’t shy away from humanity’s challenges but are determined to help solve them.

AMD is powering the next generation of supercomputing, high-performance computing, cloud, and AI. Whether you’re designing next-gen processors, enabling AI breakthroughs, or creating go-to-market plans, every role at AMD contributes to something bigger — technology that moves the world forward.

THE ROLE:

Are you passionate about technology, problem-solving, and making a real-world impact? Join our Field Applications Engineer Rotational Program, a comprehensive 18-month journey designed to develop the next generation of Field Applications Engineers specializing in FPGA technologies. This program provides immersive experiences across multiple disciplines, empowering you with the technical expertise and business acumen to thrive in a dynamic, customer-facing role.

THE PERSON:

We are looking for passionate, tech-savvy, and driven recent graduates or entry-level engineering professionals that want to learn and apply their technical degrees in a dynamic job.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a participant in this program, you will:

  • Rotate through 3-4 departments, gaining hands-on experience in areas such as:
    • FPGA architecture and design.
    • Pre-sales engineering and technical marketing.
    • Customer support and application debugging.
    • Training development and delivery for customers and internal teams.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve real-world problems using FPGA-based solutions.
  • Engage directly with customers to identify their challenges, propose solutions, and support implementation.
  • Gain in-depth knowledge of FPGA hardware, software tools, and design methodologies.
  • Develop and present technical demos, proofs-of-concept, and training materials.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Understanding of digital design, FPGA architectures, and hardware decription language (VHDL/Verilog)
    • Familiarity with FPGA development tools (e.g., Vivado, Quartus)
    • Knowledge of embedded systems, signal processing, or high-speed interfaces is a plus
    • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent communication and presentation abilities
    • Strong interpersonal skills and a customer-first mindset
    • Eagerness to learn, adapt, and tackle challenges in diverse environments
    • Passion for solving challenging customer problems and sharing solutions to your peers
  • Other Requirements:
    • Willingness to travel as needed for customer interactions or training

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
