We are looking for an experienced and proactive Network Team Manager to lead and oversee our network operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing network infrastructure, ensuring network reliability and performance, and leading a team of network engineers and administrators.
Essential Role Responsibilities
Team Leadership and Management:
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of network engineers and administrators.
Assign tasks, set goals, and ensure the team meets performance and project deadlines.
Conduct regular team meetings and performance reviews.

Network Infrastructure Management:
Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the organization's network infrastructure.
Ensure the reliability, performance, and security of network systems, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless networks.

Project Management:
Plan, coordinate, and execute network-related projects, ensuring timely and within-budget completion.
Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to understand and meet their network requirements.

Monitoring and Troubleshooting:
Monitor network performance and proactively identify and resolve issues.
Implement and manage network monitoring tools and protocols.
Conduct root cause analysis of network outages and implement corrective actions.

Vendor and Contract Management:
Manage relationships with network equipment vendors and service providers.
Evaluate and negotiate contracts to ensure cost-effective and high-quality service delivery.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of network configurations, policies, and procedures.
Generate regular network performance and status reports for senior management.
Minimum Education Required Bachelor's degree Experience Required
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.

Certifications:
Relevant certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), CompTIA Network+, or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).

Experience:
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in network engineering or network management, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory role.
Proven track record of managing and delivering network projects.

Technical Skills:
In-depth knowledge of network protocols, routing, switching, and network security.
Proficiency with network monitoring and management tools.
Experience with cloud networking solutions (e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus.

Howard Community College offers competitive salaries, excellent medical and dental selections, tuition reimbursement and paid leave programs. As a participating member of the Maryland Retirement and Pension System, HCC offers two retirement options: The Pension, which requires a 7% employee contribution and The ORP, a 403(b) with a 7.25% employer contribution only. Employees in positions that do not require a bachelor's degree must participate in The Pension. Employees that possess a bachelor's degree and hold professional positions that require a bachelor's degree may choose to participate in either The Pension or The ORP.
