Covia is looking for a dynamic Network Engineer who will have a positive impact on the Information Technology team at its Independence, OH location.
The Network Engineer will be responsible for executing designed projects, testing, implementing, and optimizing new and existing voice and data networking solutions. Ensuring reliable network operation across multiple data centers, plants, production facilities and offices. This hands-on individual will assist with the network architecture and design, engineering and administration for all network, telecommunications and security related hardware and software components. The successful candidate will be responsible for meeting uptime and reliability service level agreements across the entire Covia enterprise network infrastructure.
This Network Engineer will ensure timely incident and problem resolution while maintaining strict adherence to change and knowledge management procedures. This individual must have a proven track record of installing, maintaining and troubleshooting medium network infrastructures. Additionally, this position will require the ability to lead initiatives around the evaluation, recommendation and implementation of current and emerging network technology solutions.
The successful candidate will have the following Key Accountabilities:
    • Recommend, design, implement and ensure ongoing maintenance and monitoring of the network infrastructure across the enterprise devices including firewalls, switches, routers, wireless access points/controllers/bridges, monitoring applications, etc.
    • Familiar with network integration with PLC's, HMI's, I/O devices, controllers and SCADA, ignition system deployment architecture.
    • Responsible for overall performance and availability of network infrastructure.
    • Establish and monitor network infrastructure security configuration standards, procedures and compliance.
    • Proactively monitor and resolve network performance and communication issues to ensure maximum availability and reliability using Cisco and Aruba platforms (e.g.: catalyst center, 1000eyes, Aruba SDWAN...)
    • Support solution development through discovery sessions, technical assessments, and onsite surveys
    • Create solution documentation, including designs, diagrams, implementation plans, and as-built records
    • Implement and support solutions involving WAN/LAN, routing, switching, wireless, firewalls
    • Analyze network and network security infrastructure recommending upgrades/changes supporting continuous improvement and capacity planning efforts.
    • Proactively coordinates asset life cycle maintenance by procuring, deploying, maintaining and retiring hardware devices, software and peripherals.
    • Participate as an escalation point of contact for network related after hour's incidents.
    • Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technologies and products, independently using documentation and online resources.

The successful candidate will have the following Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years' professional experience in network engineering. Network related certifications are strongly desired.
  • Solid understanding and Experience in supporting LAN, WAN, and voice networks.
  • Strong experience in deploying and supporting Cisco Wireless networks (SSO, Multiple Data Center)
  • Solid understanding experience in Layer 2 foundational Network technologies (VLANs, STP flavors, DTP, link bonding, IPDT, vPC, Stacking...) Layer 3(static/dynamic routing-EIGRP, OSPF, BGP)
  • Knowledge and experience administering "Next Generation Firewalls" and IPS policies.
  • Knowledge and experience implementing and supporting SD-WAN products(preferably Cisco and Aruba)
  • Knowledge and experience administering on premise and/or Cloud VoIP solutions.
  • Knowledge and experience with Cisco Prime, Catalyst Center, ThousandEyes, Identity Service Engine.
  • Experience working in Manufacturing and mining Environment is preferred
  • Ability to travel to remote locations in the US, work with OT team to execute network refresh
  • Highly self-motivated and directed; logical and efficient with strong problem-solving skills; ability to thrive in rapidly changing environment under minimum supervision.
  • Experience training, coaching and mentoring junior staff members desired.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive internal and external information.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or related computer field strongly preferred. 5+ years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Minimum education required: Associates Degree in IT field.
  • Vendor certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CWNP are preferred.
