Overview:

Microspace Communications, a division of Capitol Broadcasting Company, is a leader in enterprise communications. For more than 30 years, we have been committed to consistent growth through excellence in customer support and constant development of new products and services.

We are seeking a creative and forward-thinking team member to support our 24/7 Network Operations Center. As a Network Operations Technician you will join an innovative and diverse workplace; supporting a wide range of business communications technologies. The Network Operations Technician - Level I supports the daily operations of satellite network systems by closely monitoring the network to ensure optimal performance and providing on-site support for networking across our production satellite and business networks. Providing support to our customers, responding to alerts, and troubleshooting hardware and software issues.

This position requires flexibility. You must be availble Monday - Friday as well as additional shifts and work on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays if needed.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

  • Manage daily network operations and ensure the functionality and reliability of distributed information systems and communication networks.
  • Monitor network performance to guarantee high availability and reliability, addressing any abnormalities or interference in the network uplinks.
  • Opening, updating, and documenting tickets, station logs, network status, and incident reports for customer and infrastructure issues.
  • Communicating with customers via phone or email regarding equipment or service issues and providing support for satellite, LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, customer equipment and low-voltage infrastructure support.
  • Reporting facility issues, monitoring weather conditions, and acting according to inclement weather policies.
  • Conducting regular maintenance tasks, such as patching software, managing updates, and deploying new hardware and software enhancements.
  • Diagnosing and resolving satellite and network problems, working with security tools, and adhering to best practices to ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Creating and maintaining configuration documentation, troubleshooting procedures, and training manuals.
  • Engaging in continuous professional development by reviewing training materials, acquiring soft skills through CBC University, pursuing outside education, and aiming for applicable certifications.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in a technical or customer-facing role.
  • Have the ability to learn hardware, software, and network troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a solid team-oriented mindset.
  • Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure, exhibiting intuitive problem-solving ability.
  • Strong organizational skills and the capacity to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to take initiative and use creative thinking to address and solve business problems.
  • Proven track record of providing exceptional customer service support, ensuring timely, accurate, and solutions-focused assistance and positive customer experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills for RF, network, A/V, and hardware systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with any of the following is a plus:
    • Experience with Satellite Communications systems, including Earth Stations, VSAT platforms, and Radio Frequency (RF) technologies.
    • Working knowledge of spectrum analyzers, audio analyzers, and network analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of FCC regulations and licensing requirements
  • Proficiency in A/V systems integration and related hardware
  • Strong customer service skills with experience in help desk or technical support environments.
