Description

ActioNet is seeking a Senior Network Operations Engineer (Tier III) to join our team in the DMV area. Travel is required for this position. This is a Mission Essential position designated per DFARS 252.237-7023 and requires 12-hour rotating shifts, including weekdays and weekends.

We are looking for a multi-disciplined senior network engineer with experience maintaining and fixing wired, wireless, and mobile broadband solutions in response to network faults, errors, incidents, and problems.

Salary range for this position is up to $220,000, depending on qualifications, including relevant certifications, education, years of experience, and demonstrated experience supporting Federal Government programs within the field. Candidates with specialized expertise, industry-recognized certifications, and strong Federal contracting experience may be considered at the higher end of the range.

Responsibilities

  • Provides touch labor for all network devices.
  • Oversees monitoring of network assets per SLAs.
  • Performs break/fix and maintenance activities.
  • Deals with more complex network issues, requiring a deeper understanding of the support IT infrastructure. Monitors network dashboards, analyzing problems, troubleshooting escalated incidents, coordinating, and reporting all operational information concerning the enterprise network infrastructure.
  • Common tasks include resolving configuration issues and account administration.
  • Provides subject matter expertise for LAN, WAN, firewalls, and other network technologies.
  • Trains junior NOC technicians via knowledge transfer and creation of knowledge articles. Investigates and diagnoses incidents to restore failed network services as quickly as possible.
  • Leads root cause analysis and suggests resolutions for network infrastructure problems. Installs and supports remote access platforms such as VPN, Terminal Services, and Citrix.
  • Has a fundamental understanding of network engineering concepts and adapts to emerging technologies as they are introduced to the environment. Knowledge of network protocols such as OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP.
  • Experience with Cisco command line interface and configuration.
  • Troubleshoots complex problems to closure.
  • Hands-on technical position that provides Tier 3 technical expertise.
  • Experience working with wireless technologies, VPNs, IPSs, WAN Accelerators, and associated technologies.
  • Communicates clearly and succinctly, both written and orally, and presents products and ideas in a business-like manner.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Degree: Technical BA/BS degree;
  • Experience: 7 years with bachelor's degree;
  • Commensurate: High School diploma or associate degree with a minimum of 10 years performing as a Network Operations
  • Support Engineer supporting large, complex networks in a Network Operations Center environment; 
    Specific Skills: Experience with DoD IT security requirements; proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio);
  • Preferred: ITIL v3 or ITSM experience; experience supporting DAF and local base environments; 
    Certification(s): DoD 8570 IAT II Baseline Certification (CompTIA Security+ CE or CCNA-SEC); CCNP or CCDP or equivalent; 
  • Clearance: Secret

Preferred Certifications 

Candidates possessing one or more of the following certifications are strongly preferred:

  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP Enterprise) or equivalent advanced networking certification
  • ITIL 4 Foundation or ITSM-based operational service management certification
  • CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+) or CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP+)
  • Microsoft or VMware certifications (e.g., Azure Administrator Associate, VCP) related to enterprise infrastructure support
