Job Summary:
Under direction of the Director of Elections Technology, this position provides day-to-day level-1 technology operational support within the Elections Technology Department. Systems including ballot building coordination, coordination of equipment testing and technology coordination.
Major Responsibilities:
• Oversee and Manage in-house Auditing Tasks.
• Professional interaction with county election office supervisors and staff, county election board members, county commission members, and county attorneys on a nearly daily basis.
• Communicates project status and progress of work product for review and briefing.
• Assist Ballot Building operation.
• Design and execute long and short-term projects.
• Installs, analyzes and troubleshoots as necessary desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, monitors, peripherals, network, servers, phones, and switches.
• Validates new computer hardware, software and processes in office environment working in conjunction with other IT staff.
• Responds to Windows OS, Exchange/Outlook, IE supported applications and other supported software problems.
• Maintains current inventory of all State owned equipment.
• Performs other IT related duties as assigned.
• Support the roll out of Elections related initiatives.
• Shows persistence and seeks alternatives when obstacles arise; seeks alternative solutions; identifies and involves appropriate internal or external expertise when appropriate; works proactively, addressing things before being forced to by events; accommodates new methods and procedures.
• Accepts direction and feedback from supervisor and follows through appropriately.
• Develops and maintains effective working relationships with users and peers.
• Server Support and On-site Equipment Testing - Develop and lead an array of short and long- term projects.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Strong knowledge of desktops, laptops and mobile devices, as well as network equipment
• Strong knowledge of MS Office and MS Exchange/Active Directory
• Demonstrated problem resolution and task management skills
• Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
• Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment and make sound decisions in emergency situations
• Ability to present ideas in a user-friendly language
• Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Strong customer service orientation
• Must be able to lift 75 pounds
• Some travel required
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree from a nationally accredited college or university in Information Technology
• Knowledge of the state's voting system and be able to prepare highly precise relational databases in extremely tight time windows throughout the calendar year
• Skilled in the use of GEMS 1.18.22G! and Ballot Station 4.5.2!
