The Network Operations Team is responsible for troubleshooting, maintenance, and level 3 problem resolution activities of large WAN and LAN environments. Cisco & Arista hardware is utilized in our fast-paced and challenging operational environment. No direct administration of Windows/Linux systems is involved - this role is strictly networking focused and requires in-depth knowledge of network support technologies, tools, and operational procedures. However, familiarity with UNIX and Linux command structure is a necessary. This position's primary emphasis is problem identification for routing and switching issues, troubleshooting, and incident resolution.
Network Operations (NetOps) coordinates with development, engineering, and other Technical Operations (TechOps) teams to support the environment and implement network configuration changes including config scripting for new access connectivity through WANs, LANs, and firewalls. NetOps maintains network environments in multiple geographically distinct data centers and dozens of globally dispersed enterprise locations. The team focuses on incident management activities and adheres to very strict configuration standards. This position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills required to relay information to management, adjacent support teams, and downstream customer groups. The ability to create concise documentation of issues, compile statistics and related data, as well as build diagrams and reports on network performance is required.
We are looking for a Networks Engineer (SME) to join our team. A broad knowledge of all major networking topics is critical. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience in the enterprise environment (preferably in a Financial Services Firm), Technology vendor or systems integrator in the role of designing or implementing and providing operational support to large scale networks. The ability to work both independently and as a team member is essential. Strong communication and presentation skills are imperative to be able explain network design, articulate risk, and facilitate decision making.
Expert Level Technical Skills Required:
  • Ethernet technologies: STP, 802.1Q, VPC, Multilayer Switching; Leaf-Spine IP Fabric
  • IP Routing: RIP, OSPF, BGP, MPBGP, TCP/IP
  • VxLAN design and troubleshooting
  • Platform knowledge on Cisco Switching & Routing Platforms
  • Platform knowledge on Arista Switching platforms
  • Familiarity with JIRA for project and task management, specifically work in an Agile environment

Additional Qualifications:
Candidate must possess 10+ years of demonstrable experience in the following areas:
  • A firm understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 troubleshooting and incident resolution methods
  • Experience maintaining, upgrading, and configuring Cisco routing/switching hardware required
  • WAN support of point-to-point, dark fiber, and MPLS circuits (with BGP/OSPF routing)
  • Excellent communication skills required including written correspondence and vocal notification
  • Hands-on experience working in an enterprise operations environment or 24x7x365 NOC
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to multitask and work well under pressure required
  • Understanding of network management tools and packet capture technologies is required
  • Strong understanding of change management processes, business unit engagement methodologies, and project lifecycle management
  • Candidate must demonstrate initiative, reliability, self-motivation, and possess a strong sense of urgency to be considered

Desired Skills:
  • 10+ years of experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting methodologies
  • 5+ years of experience supporting networks in a fast-paced 24x7 NOC environment
  • Previous Financial Services support experience preferred
  • Ability to use Microsoft applications with strong presentation skills using Canva, Powerpoint
  • Proficient in UNIX or Linux
  • Experience with scripting / automation using Python / Ansible is a strong plus.
  • Wireshark, Infoblox, HPNA, Splunk, Sevone, Ansible tooling experience is a plus
  • Both cloud and wireless knowledge preferred
  • Strong sense of security concepts including defense in depth, zero trust networking, least privilege principle, risks and controls.

*This Day Shift position operates 5 days a week during typical Market hours
  • Flexibility may be required for approximately 3-4 weeks of training:
    • Monday- Friday from 8AM - 4PM
  • The resource must be willing to be onsite from day 1
  • With manager's approval, there may be some flexibility to work in a hybrid environment

  • BS degree in either Computer Science (or similar discipline) or equivalent work experience
  • CCNP preferred
