The role: We’re hiring a contract Software Developer (6 months) to accelerate delivery of secure, reliable API integrations on Azure. This is a tactical, rollupyoursleeves engineering role—designing, building, testing, and productionhardening cloud services that plug into our broader architecture.

You’ll work closely with EA, platform teams, and delivery leads to implement patterns we can trust in production. Clear communication, good engineering instincts, and comfort working independently are important.

This is 6 month contract opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain Azure Functions and .NET services that support missioncritical integrations.
  • Develop and publish APIs using Azure API Management, including policies, versioning, and gateway configuration.
  • Implement secure authentication and authorization flows using OAuth2/OIDC.
  • Use Azure Key Vault for secrets management and enforce secure-by-default design.
  • Instrument applications with Azure Application Insights for logging, telemetry, tracing, and operational monitoring.
  • Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps with consistent build/test/deploy controls.
  • Apply strong engineering practices: automated testing, code reviews, quality gates, and performance validation.
  • Harden services for production—resiliency, scale considerations, defensive coding, and operational readiness.
  • Collaborate with architects to align with existing patterns and help shape reusable components.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Solid hands-on experience with Azure API Management and Azure Functions/.NET.
  • Strong understanding of OAuth2/OIDC flows and identity integration.
  • Practical experience with Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines.
  • Comfort working with App Insights, Key Vault, and the surrounding Azure ecosystem.
  • Strong testing discipline—unit, integration, performance, and security testing.
  • Experience deploying and supporting production workloads in Azure.
  • Clear, pragmatic communication style and willingness to collaborate across teams.
  • Knowledge of enterprise integration patterns.
  • Experience in financial services or other regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with cloud networking, private endpoints, and VNetintegrated services.
  • Comfort learning and adopting new digital tools, with an openness to using AIenabled technology to enhance productivity, accuracy, and the Member experience

This posting is for a newly created position.  Internal candidates are being considered. 

Salary Range: $68,800.00 to $103,200.00 CAD
Compensation for this role is based on a combination of skills, experience, and internal equity. Candidates with stronger alignment to the role’s requirements may be placed higher within the range. Your recruiter will share more information about our total rewards package during the hiring process.

Office Location:  Toronto Corporate Office with the ability to travel to our St. Catharines office as needed. This is a hybrid work opportunity.
