Job description

Field Restaurant Technology Support Specialist
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour, based on experience
Position Summary
We are seeking a hands-on, self-motivated Field Restaurant Technology Support Specialist to support multiple McDonald's restaurants throughout Southeast Michigan.
This is NOT a traditional IT help desk position. This role requires working inside the restaurants, inspecting equipment, troubleshooting technology issues, coordinating with McDonald's approved technology vendors and help desks, and helping keep our restaurant technology operating at peak performance.
The ideal candidate enjoys solving problems, working with people, and taking ownership of technology in a fast-paced restaurant environment. Most of your workday will be spent traveling between restaurant locations rather than sitting behind a desk.
Candidates with strong technical aptitude but limited professional experience are encouraged to apply. We are willing to train the right individual who demonstrates initiative, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to learning.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Visit assigned restaurants on a regular schedule to inspect restaurant technology and identify issues before they become major problems.
  • Perform routine technology walks to proactively identify equipment failures, damaged cables, worn peripherals, printer supply shortages, loose connections, and other conditions that may impact restaurant operations.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity issues affecting restaurant operations.
  • Work directly with McDonald's approved technology support centers and vendors to diagnose and resolve equipment issues.
  • Install, replace, configure, and test approved hardware components when appropriate.
  • Coordinate equipment repairs with outside service providers.
  • Verify that repaired equipment is functioning properly before leaving the restaurant.
  • Maintain inventory of replacement equipment, cables, peripherals, batteries, and technology supplies.
  • Document service calls, repairs, and follow-up actions.
  • Train restaurant managers and employees on proper use of restaurant technology when needed.
  • Assist with restaurant technology upgrades, installations, and new equipment rollouts.
  • Perform preventive maintenance to maximize equipment uptime.
  • Identify recurring technology issues and recommend long-term solutions.
  • Respond to urgent technology issues that impact restaurant operations.
  • Maintain a professional working relationship with restaurant management while providing outstanding customer service.

  • A role that supports employees over the phone from a central office.

Instead, this is a hands-on field support position where you will spend the majority of your day inside our restaurants.
You will:
  • Visit multiple restaurant locations each day.
  • Inspect technology and equipment to identify potential issues before they become failures.
  • Troubleshoot problems on-site.
  • Work alongside restaurant managers and crew members to resolve technology issues.
  • Coordinate with McDonald's approved technology support providers and vendors while remaining on-site to test solutions and ensure equipment is fully operational.
  • Take ownership of keeping restaurant technology functioning so restaurant teams can focus on serving customers.

If you enjoy solving problems, working independently, traveling between locations, and seeing the immediate impact of your work, this position offers an exciting opportunity to make a difference every day.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates should possess:
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with restaurant managers and employees.
