Job description

This is an onsite/hybrid role at one of the VIATechnik Offices (Chicago, NYC). Open to remote. Our clients include Amazon, Mars Wrigley, and National Geographic, the firms shaping the world's most ambitious projects. Role OverviewOur Summer BIM/VDC Internship is designed for students who want real exposure to how complex buildings are actually delivered - and who want to build skills that set them apart before graduation. Interns work alongside experienced BIM and VDC professionals on active projects, gaining visibility into multiple trades, coordination strategies, and client-facing workflows that most students don't see until years into their careers. By the end of the program, you won't just understand how models are built - you'll understand how they drive decisions, solve problems, and shape real construction outcomes. If you're curious, motivated, and want a head start in a high-demand field, this internship gives you a meaningful edge. Program Length: 2 Months (8 Weeks)Start: June 2027Target Audience: Construction Management / Engineering StudentsFormat: Project Shadowing + Instruction + Capstone Program Overview This internship program immerses interns in real-world BIM/VDC project delivery. Interns shadow active project teams, attend structured technical sessions, and complete a guided capstone project. Program Pillars Project Shadowing & Assisted Delivery Weekly SME Learning Series Capstone Project - Attend internal and client meetings - Take and distribute meeting notes - Assist with model reviews, QA/QC, and documentation - Observe coordination, RFIs, and client communicationWeekly 60–90 minute sessions covering BIM fundamentals, Revit, coordination, BIM for GCs and Owners, and Electrical, Plumbing, and HVAC systems. Each intern completes a mentor-guided capstone project simulating a real BIM/VDC scenario, ending with a formal presentation.  CompensationThe pay for this position is $25– $30, hourly. As a minority and woman owned and led company, VIATechnik seeks to build a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills.
