Job description

Nammo Defense Systems, Inc., a defense contractor, is the primary USA operation of the Nammo Group (Nammo AS). Nammo Defense Systems Inc. (NDS) develops, manufactures, and supports Shoulder Launched Munitions (SLMs), energetic material solutions such as aircraft emergency escape systems, actuation devices, rocket motors, warheads, and composite solutions including carbon fiber tubes and composite aerospace structures.
JOB OVERVIEW:
The Quality Control (QC) Team Lead oversees daily quality control operations across all plants within Nammo Defense systems. This role ensures that all products meet rigorous internal, customer, and regulatory standards before release. The QC Team Lead trains and supervises inspection personnel, enforces quality procedures and makes revisions as needed, supports continuous improvement initiatives, manages calibrated tools for all plants, and plays a key role in maintaining compliance with defense industry standards such as ISO 9001, AS9100, and ITAR.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Train, lead and coordinate the activities of quality inspectors, technicians, and auditors to ensure product conformity at all stages of production.
• Develop, implement, and maintain inspection plans aligned with engineering drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.
• Review first article inspections (FAI) per AS9102 and customer-specific requirements.
• Ensure calibration and maintenance of all inspection equipment and measurement tools are met.
• Maintain documentation for nonconformance reports (NCRs), corrective actions (CARs), and preventive actions (PARs).
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve quality issues and prevent recurrence.
• Conduct in-process and final inspections of components, assemblies, and finished goods as needed to support company goals.
• Support internal and external audits (customer, ISO/AS, and government).
• Train and mentor QC staff on inspection methods, standards interpretation, and safety protocols across all plants.
• Analyze quality data and metrics to identify trends and recommend process improvements working with the IPT's across the plants.
• Ensure compliance with ITAR, DFARS, and other applicable government and defense regulations.
• Bring a positive attitude to the team by creating a positive work environment for the inspection team.
• Have the ability to backfill the inspectors when they are off work or the need for additional support arises.
COOPERATION
This role requires collaboration across internal teams for support of decision making, problem resolution, and the ability to perform work autonomously, or with a group.

• Ability to obtain approval through BATF to handle explosives
• High level of inspection equipment knowledge
• Can read and interpret drawings and specifications
• Ability to perform inspections to support FAI inspections

• Can work with cross functional teams to support DR processing
• Working knowledge of tools for quality control
