RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teach music theory concepts effectively to students
  • Provide individualized and group voice lessons tailored to student needs and goals.
  • Teach proper vocal techniques, breathing exercises, diction, posture, and performance skills.
  • Prepare students for recitals, auditions, competitions, or examinations as needed.
  • Develop and adapt lesson plans and curriculum based on student progress and learning styles.
  • Maintain accurate attendance and progress records for each student.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in music from accredited college/university; Master's degree is a plus.
  • One or more years experience in teaching musical instrument performance for specific instrument or, equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be a fluent player of the specific musical instrument which will be taught.
  • Should be experienced in teaching students with a broad range of abilities and backgrounds in a private setting.
  • Should have a strong classical background.
  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years playing as a musician and one (1) or more years as a teacher for the specific instrument.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & CAPABILITIES

  • Upbeat, positive attitude with good communication and observational skills.
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing using English; bilingual skills are a plus
  • Must have an advanced understanding of music theory and technique relevant to the primary instrument.
  • Effectively manage time and have excellent organizational skills to keep students on task.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with parents of young students.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Physical abilities: Ability to sit/stand for periods of time with good hearing and eyesight.

  • Successful background check, reference checking, and drug/alcohol screening clearance.
