ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Other duties may be assigned
  • Accompany concert choirs and show choir in rehearsals and performances. Advanced playing skills are necessary to play various choral genres (e.g., classical, spirituals, musical theater, pop, jazz) and read/play open score voice parts in rehearsals. Accompanist must be comfortable playing ISSMA Group I choral accompaniments, solo and ensemble repertoire, musical theater accompaniments and possess strong sight-reading skills.
  • Assist in leading choral rehearsals, sectionals, and help prepare students for solo & ensemble contests
  • Assist the choral director in regular class/rehearsal activities
  • Assist in maintaining and organizing the choral department music library
  • Serve as the fall musical production accompanist for auditions, rehearsals, and performances (separate stipend)
  • Work closely with the choral director to maintain and promote a positive, welcoming rehearsal and performance environment
  • Rehearsal and performance obligations include after-school and some weekend hours (e.g., evening show choir rehearsals, show choir competitions, after-school concerts, etc.)
  • Be well organized and take initiative
  • Be responsible, have a strong work ethic, and demonstrate flexibility
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills
  • Maintains satisfactory attendance
