These internships provide valuable networking opportunities and hands-on skills that can help build a career in music. Typically, music internships can be part-time or full-time, lasting from a few weeks to several months. They are ideal for those looking to understand the inner workings of the music business and gain real-world experience.

Job description

The Music Therapy Program at Hospice of Santa Cruz County serves patients and their families of Santa Cruz County who are on hospice services. We have offices in both Scotts Valley and Watsonville.

To be considered for this internship, the applicant:

  • Must have completed an undergrad and/or master's level AMTA approved Music Therapy program.
  • Must have proficient guitar skills, confident singing skills, pleasant singing voice, interest and excitement concerning self-exploration, interest to increase musical repertoire to fit population, and technological skills/interest to expand them

The intern should expect to observe the music therapist, the music therapy intern (MTI) and other disciplines in field visits in the first 3-4 weeks of internship, along with general orientation which includes Hospice Educational Network videos. The intern will begin to co-lead sessions with supervisor and present MTI, working towards autonomy to lead sessions independently. Throughout internship the intern will have weekly supervision with the internship director and be observed weekly by the internship director/supervisor.
