Value Added Maintenance Supervisor 2nd Shift

Description

The Value Added Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for supporting and overseeing all maintenance activities within the Value Added production area. This role ensures equipment reliability, safe operations, and efficient maintenance practices across a diverse product environment that includes Multivac packaging systems and other specialized equipment. The Supervisor works closely with production leadership to minimize downtime, maintain product quality, and support continuous improvement in a fast‑paced, consumer‑ready packaging department.

Essential Job Functions

  • Support installation, servicing, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical equipment in the Value Added department
  • Assist with maintenance, repair, and service of plant equipment, buildings, and facilities
  • Plan, organize, and direct maintenance activities to ensure optimal equipment performance and maximum return on assets
  • Implement processes to reduce manufacturing costs through efficient use of manpower, equipment, materials, and capital
  • Apply working knowledge of electrical systems, industrial wiring, pipe fitting, plumbing, welding, shop machinery, sheet metal, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical controls, instrumentation, and PLCs to maintain VA equipment
  • Oversee setup, repair, teardown, and inspection of automated equipment—including Multivac machines—to ensure compliance with specifications and standards
  • Maintain Preventative Maintenance Records for all Value Added equipment
  • Issue weekly maintenance schedules and ensure timely completion of tasks
  • Support oversight of physical plant facilities, systems, and equipment within the VA area
  • Identify operational issues and implement corrective solutions
  • Participate in ongoing support of the Processing Operating System
  • Ensure safety compliance for buildings, equipment, and maintenance staff
  • Interpret and enforce company policies and practices
  • Analyze and resolve work problems or assist teams in troubleshooting
  • Maintain production equipment to organizational standards, ensuring minimal downtime
  • Requisition tools, equipment, and supplies as needed
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of JBS GI policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support Value Added maintenance operations
  • Experience Required 
  • Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience, preferably in a food processing plant; experience in highly regulated industrial or manufacturing environments will be considered
  • Experience maintaining and managing building services/systems using contractors and internal staff
  • Experience with quality improvement and risk management processes is an asset
  • High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred

Skills & Abilities Required

  • Strong working knowledge of preventative maintenance, facilities management, equipment repair, refrigeration, pipe fitting, plumbing, welding, sheet metal, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical controls, instrumentation, and PLC systems
  • Knowledge of building and fire codes, health and safety standards
  • Demonstrated leadership and people‑management skills in a fast‑paced, multicultural environment
  • Self‑motivated, results‑oriented, and able to work collaboratively across departments
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities
