Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Low Voltage Lead Technician to join our growing team. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can manage crews, lead field operations, perform fiber fusion splicing, install network infrastructure, support CCTV, sound systems, access control systems, coordinate projects, and ensure jobs are completed safely, professionally, and on schedule.
This is not an entry-level position.
We are looking for someone who leads from the front—someone who takes ownership of the project, the crew, and the final result.
Position Responsibilities
Field Leadership
- Lead and supervise crews of 5+ technicians
- Assign daily work objectives and ensure production goals are met
- Manage manpower planning, labor efficiency, and material usage
- Maintain project quality, safety, and profitability standards
- Coordinate directly with Project Managers, General Contractors, electricians, and other trades
- Provide daily project updates and field reports to management
- Handle customer communication and onsite issue resolution
- Train and mentor junior technicians and helpers
- Ensure jobsite cleanliness, organization, and professionalism
Installation Responsibilities
- Pull, route, dress, label, terminate, test and troubleshooting :
- Cat5e / Cat6 / Cat6A structured cabling
- Fiber optic cabling (single-mode and multi-mode)
- CCTV / surveillance systems
- Access control systems
- Door access systems
- Intercom systems
- Commercial sound systems / paging systems
- SM, MM Fiber
- OTDR testing
- cat5-6 verify and certify
- Install and support:
- Security cameras
- Access control panels
- Card readers
- Door strikes / mag locks
- Intercom systems
- Paging and background music systems
- Audio distribution systems
- Network equipment
- Install and build:
- Network racks
- Cabinets
- Patch panels
- MDF / IDF rooms
- Equipment enclosures
- Follow and maintain:
- T568A / T568B standards
- TIA standards
- BICSI standards
- Manufacturer installation standards
Documentation & Safety
- Read and interpret:
- Construction drawings
- Fiber splice diagrams
- Riser diagrams
- Security system plans
- Access control layouts
- Audio system drawings
- Scope of Work
- BOMs
- Low-voltage plans
- Specifications and submittals
- Complete:
- Redlines
- As-builts
- Fluke test reports
- Fiber test reports
- Daily field reports
- Conduct daily safety planning
- Enforce OSHA compliance and jobsite safety standards
Minimum Requirements
- 3–5+ years of low-voltage installation experience
- Strong experience with:
- Structured cabling
- Fiber optic cable
- Network rack installations
- CCTV systems
- Access control systems
- Commercial sound systems
- BICSI Certification required
- FOA Certification required
- OSHA 10 Certification required
- Strong experience with:
- Fluke testing
- OTDR testing
- Copper and fiber troubleshooting
- Ability to read and understand:
- Construction drawings
- Blueprints
- Security layouts
- Access control plans
- Audio system drawings
- Scope of Work
- Project schedules
- Experience leading crews and managing field productivity
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
Must own basic low-voltage hand tools:
- Snips
- Strippers
- Screwdrivers
- Punch tools
- Crimpers
- Wrenches
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds
- Ability to work on ladders, lifts, ceilings, crawl spaces, and active construction sites
- Ability to travel throughout Utah, Nevada, and Idaho
(Up to 50% regional travel; per diem and lodging provided when applicable) - Ability to work overtime, nights, and under project deadlines when required
- Must be able to pass background check and drug screening
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
