Job Summary/Description:  

WNDU is looking for a talented News Producer to join our award-winning team. This position works on-site closely with the News Director and Assistant News Director in addition to having direct communication with Technical Media Producers, Digital Content Team, Assignment Manager, Reporters, and other news staff. In this position, you will be responsible for the content and flow of newscasts and digital content, and the overall quality of our news product. You will lead the charge in the development of our newscasts and digital content to meet a high standard.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Manage and produce on-air and digital newscasts
• Work closely with the Assistant News Director on creating unique shows with strong showcasing
• Review and approve scripts and rundowns to ensure accuracy and quality
• With the Assistant News Director, assist in scheduling assigned direct reports
• Work collaboratively with other managers/team members, and perform tasks as assigned by the News Director
• Other duties as assigned by the News Director
• Participate in editorial planning sessions and originate story ideas
• Possess in-depth knowledge of today’s news and current events
• Demonstrate strong online research skills to locate stories and information

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Producing experience while earning a college degree or producing experience at a television station
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including holidays, mornings, evenings, and weekends on occasion as the news warrants
• Experience working at a fast pace in a team environment
• Knowledge of AP, ENPS, and Edius
• Organizational skills and the ability to work under constant time-sensitive deadlines
• Excellent writing and communication skills, experience using MS Office products
• Bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism, communication, or related field - preferred
• Travel: Rarely, less than 10%
• Work environment: on-site, in-person, in WNDU Newsroom
• Physical Demands: Sedentary desk work, involves sitting most of the time; some lifting, bending, standing, typing, meetings, speaking, etc.
• Must have a valid U.S. driver's license with a clean driving record, which meets company policies (will be verified as a condition of employment and checked regularly throughout employment).
