Job Summary
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Multimedia, the Senior Video and Multimedia Producer is a video and photography expert responsible for leading complex, high-visibility video, photography, and multimedia initiatives that support College and University strategic priorities. This individual functions as a technical and creative subject-matter expert-overseeing the conceptualization, planning, capture, editing, and distribution of professional photography and video assets while also serving as a trusted storytelling advisor to leadership, faculty, and College stakeholders. The senior video and multimedia producer's work complements the publicity, social media, multimedia, and web directives of the unit, and provides overall leadership and direction for videography and photography staff/vendors. Guided by leadership's vision for the College, this individual will oversee the production of video and photo needs within multimedia formats (digital, photography, video, audio) to be shared with partners and stakeholders for news stories and publications, on social media platforms, and web pages to enhance the College's brand and to support College goals. Working closely with the Assistant Director and Senior Publicity and Promotions Manager to serve Engineering Administration, this individual is a solutions-oriented, technical lead who is as comfortable with technical production processes/equipment as they are with creative ideas and people. Working with faculty and administration, this individual will collaborate on multimedia projects with members of the Communications team, Engineering Communicators, University Communications, and other Communicators across campus to coordinate the development, production, and distribution of digital content. This individual exercises independent judgment, supports complex multimedia initiatives, influences visual strategy, recommends technology investments, and drives workflow and process improvements across the multimedia team. Additionally, this individual develops creative concepts, storyboards, shot lists and production plans. The Senior Video and Multimedia Producer serves as an expert among Engineering Communicators for all things regarding video, photography, equipment, and asset management. A self-starter, this individual will initiate continual improvements in Engineering's multimedia content strategy and associated workflow based on regular data-gathering and critical review. This individual will oversee creative work produced by any supporting or sourced videographers and photographers, which may include staff, student workers, temps, independent contractors, or agencies. This individual will train staff, student workers, and freelancers as necessary, ensuring operational excellence as well as make and deliver presentations as needed.
What You'll Be Doing:
  • Oversee all aspects of the College Administration video and photography enterprise, including related/connected web pages, personnel, strategy, projects/initiatives, campaigns, emails, advertising, performance, maintenance, branding, and archiving. Develop and execute audience-relevant, purpose-driven video content with staff, students, and sourced talent to support College goals. Utilize video footage, stock and institutional photography, and audio as needed. Develop and execute video and multimedia strategy with metrics that includes audience-relevant, compelling multimedia content to support College goals. Direct video and photo productions, personnel and supporting staff in studio and field environments. Work closely with Senior Publicity and Promotions Manager for scripting, production needs, timeline, and distribution. Uphold visual brand standards; develop authentic, influential storytelling through effective photography and video; maintain and update the College video resource toolkit and internal standards documentation for use across the Engineering Communicators network.
  • Support all aspects of the College Administration multimedia initiatives, web, and social media enterprise, including personnel, strategy, projects/initiatives, performance, maintenance, and branding. Monitor performance of central College platforms and adjust strategy as necessary based on critical review of data and consultation with the with the Assistant Director and Publicity and Promotions Manager.   • Support all aspects of the College Administration multimedia initiatives, web, and social media enterprise, including personnel, strategy, projects/initiatives, performance, maintenance, and branding. Monitor performance of central College platforms and adjust strategy as necessary based on critical review of data and consultation with the with the Assistant Director and Publicity and Promotions Manager. Utilize analytics to evaluate video performance and inform future content decisions.
  • Oversee video content strategy for College web pages, ensuring video assets are properly embedded, captioned, and optimized for organic search. Collaborate with web developers and content managers to ensure video assets meet College brand and accessibility standards, including captioning requirements and maintaining contrast and legibility standards. Liaison with Assistant Director of Multimedia, Senior Publicity and Promotions Manager, and Engineering Communicators daily for all video and photography needs to support multimedia and publicity and promotion efforts; monitor video, photo, and multimedia use across the college, PNS, PRF, Research, and other units on campus relevant to Engineering. Manage the College YouTube channel, including uploading content, playlist curating, and ongoing management. Ensure photo content is uploaded to PhotoShelter or equivalent digital asset management systems per established workflows.
  • Coordination, frequent communication, and occasional production oversight of freelancers, temporary staff, and student workers to support videography, digital asset management, social media, and multimedia project needs. This includes the potential of supervising student workers and participating in the administrative processes for human resource actions (hiring, professional development, promotions, terminations, disciplinary procedures, and hourly pay adjustments) and managing performance through appropriate goal setting. Make presentations; train colleagues and student workers as necessary.

What We're Looking For:
Education and Experience:
  • BA/BS degree in Film/Video Production, Photography, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Liberal Arts, Social Sciences, or a related field
  • Five (5) years or more of solid, progressively responsible experience in professional video production and photography
  • Portfolio demonstrating advanced video production, photography, editing and storytelling expertise
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Equivalencies will be considered

Skills needed:
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex multimedia projects and managing multimedia and publicity projects along with directing the staff associated with such projects in a higher education or nonprofit environment, including videography and photography, animation and social media.
  • Solid experience within the news cycle, mass media industry standards, journalism/journalists.
  • Experience working within a team encompassing the full range of communicators, including internal news teams, strategists, graphic designers, web developers, writers/editors, and event coordinators.
  • Extensive experience managing professional photography and video production techniques.
  • Proficiency in digital asset management systems and associated workflows.
  • Advanced post-production software proficiency, including Adobe Creative Cloud and other editing and production software.
  • Proven effectiveness in developing videography and photography strategies and in measuring performance of social media; proven success in achieving social media objectives.
  • Experience working in concert with designers, social media, news, and publicity.
  • Expert with a variety of multimedia formats, software, camera, audio and lighting equipment, including studio and field lighting.
  • Functional knowledge of rigging, electrical systems, sound reinforcement, stage systems, and equipment needs.
  • Familiar capturing videography and photography across various office, studio, field and live event environments.
  • Obtain certified commercial drone pilot license and familiar with FAA requirements, operations, and responsibilities.
  • Familiar with emerging camera systems, lighting technologies, software platforms, workflow tools, and techniques.
  • Familiar with web analytics tools (i.e. Google Analytics) and content management systems to measure video performance and inform content strategy.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with strong attention to detail and excellent follow-through in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent verbal communication, collaboration, and presentation skills with proven ability to advise and train diverse stakeholders at all levels.
  • MODERATE PHYSICAL ACTIVITY: Lift and carry 25 to 50 lbs. frequently, and up to 60 lbs. occasionally.
