Job Summary and Qualifications

Position Summary: The Nursing Manager provides leadership through planning, organizing, coordinating, monitoring and evaluating the care provided for patients in individual units. Responsibilities include fiscal, human resource, risk management and operational functions. The Manager contributes to strategic planning and program development and maintains 24 hour accountability. The Manager performs delegated duties and functions within the philosophy and overall scope of responsibility. The Manager displays positive support for the values and mission of Wesley Medical Center.  


Position Requirements 


  Required Registration, Licensure or Certification 


  • Current Licensure in the State of Kansas as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Current Multi-State Licensure as a Registered Nurse.  


  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) verification course through American Heart Assoc. or American Red Cross - Healthcare Provider CPR 


  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) verification course through American Heart Assoc. or American Red Cross within 90 days of hire 


Preferred Registration, Licensure or Certification 


  • Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) 


  • Trauma Core Course (TNCC) verification course  


  • Pediatric Chemotherapy Biotherapy Course (APHON)  


  • Pediatric Fundamental Critical Care Support (PFCCS) 


  • Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) or Certified Pediatric Curse (CPN)  


  • Successful completion of the Wesley Dysrhythmia exam  


Required Education or Experience 


  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing 


  • 2 years’ experience 


Preferred Education or Experience 


  • 3 years of supervisory experience  


Required Knowledge and Skills 


  • Ability to utilize the nursing process in the provision of nursing care including, but not limited to, administering treatments and medications, interpreting diagnostic tests, formulating a plan of care, collaborating with other health care providers and providing education to patients and/or significant others 


  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively 


  • Possess personal computer skills 


  • Ability to multi-task, delegate and prioritize 


  • Possess problem-solving and critical thinking skills
